Soft top cleaner

Post by Paul Yeomans » Thu May 20, 2004 8:15 pm

Hi
Can anyone recommend a good product/method to use to clean a tan
coloured soft top. I have tried elbow grease and jif which gets it
reasonably clean but there are still some dirty patches over the top and
edges.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul, I use Mothers Convertable Top Cleaner to get the top clean - you
may need to give it a couple of goes if realy dirty. Then I use Mothers
Preserves Protectant. Not cheap but does a great job.
I would not recommend using jif on your top!!

Mother's Soft Top Cleaner, followed up by Mother's Preserves protectant is
the only way to go. Does a great job!

While a great fan of Mother's products, I use "303" Convertible Top
Cleaner on my tan top... works great for most things. Particularly
stubborn spots get a blast of Mr Muscle Multi Cleaner -- but I make
sure to thoroughly rinse off any residue afterwards.

I would NOT use Jif-plus-elbowgrease... as I would be afraid that it
would abrade the vinyl surface.

Thanks for your help,
I tried autoglym soft-top cleaner worked a treat, still a few dirty
patches so will use Mr Muscle multi cleaner on that. Thankfully Jiff
didn't do any damage but didn't do too much good either.
Thanks for your help

Hi Guys

After much looking I found Mothers soft top cleaner at Supercheap Auto's but
as yet have not found Mother's Preserves protectant. If anyone knows where I
can get it in the Auckland area please tell me.

Cheers
