Leak on drivers side upper windshield

Post by skams » Wed Apr 26, 2006 3:25 pm

John.
On my 5 at the top of the door "A" window frame there is a little ribbed
bulge in the seal (attached to the frame) which, when the door is closed,
presses against the seal on the side of the windscreen pillar right where it
is cupped to receive the water draining from the windscreen header seal,
restricting the ability of the cup to receive that water. That cup directs the
water down the middle of the seal which runs down the windscreen pillar. The
situation did seem to improve with the judicious application of some silicone
grease. Also I had small holes in the fabric of my top right at the forward
corners of the soft top header bar which probably let a little water in when
it rained until I plugged them up with a little RTV silicone (black) sealer. I
have since replaced the soft top as you will see in my reply to Eric's
problem.

Cheers Simon Senior
