Post by 41south » Sun Apr 16, 2006 5:15 pm

Hi all,

Funny what you notice a few days *after* you've bought the
car :-/

The links below are to 2 pictures of my wing mirrors, both

Passenger side

the passenger's side pic is the earlier style mirror, they switched at
some point to the driver's side style (which my '96 also has). Are
they both power mirrors ?

Passenger side is an electrically operated mirror housing, and the drivers side is the manually operated. I guess (and someone can correct me here) that yours should have the manually operated mirrors. I would imagine that you don't have a switch to move your mirrors from inside the car?

Which wing mirror is correct?

Post by 41south » Sun Apr 16, 2006 8:23 pm

Both mirrors are manually operated. I'm hoping that no permanent damage
or marks have been left by the addition of the passenger side mirror.
I'll have to see if I can get a replacement for it.

Thanks.
Colin.

Post by Shermio » Sun Apr 16, 2006 9:41 pm

Hmmm just another thought, it could be that some damage was sustained to the
side with the newer mirror and the previous owner just grabed a door off a
newer model from the wreckers... :(

Hopefully Im wrong!

Yup, that's just what I was thinking. Maybe the door skin will be the same and the mirror mounting attachment apertures ( :0) will be the same for all NA models. Perhaps an older mirror will just bolt straight on.

We have been having a thread as regards content. Here we have a perfect example of a benifical discussion. I have a 92 and a 96 and never even noticed the mirrors were different! I just thought my 96 looked better because it was a special ed.I also learned from you that they are electric! How unobservant can I be? Thanks Richard
