switches???

Post by karlncas » Sun Mar 05, 2006 3:29 pm

Hi all, was just poking around the switches to the right of the steering
wheel, there are three switches there, to the left appears to be what I am
now using to turn my new spotlights on and off in association to with the
standard lights (they will only operate when the standard lights are on
either park or full lights).

But was wondering what the centre and the right hand side switches are for
as they both have wires leading up to them but the switches are not switches
as such they are just a false face to match the left one by the looks of it

The car is an 89 manual

P.S got busted by the WOF Nazis the other day for having cold air induction
through what the twit wrongly called the firewall..so think twice before you
cut,

Cheers

switches???

Post by poison » Sun Mar 05, 2006 5:24 pm

Hi Karl

I got the same thing with my Cold Air System I had to get a report from a Car
crash repair certifier, cost about $75 but was cheaper than full certification
($350). Dumb ass called it the fire wall when it's just the wiper bay wall to
keep crap out of the engine bay.

Keep us informed as to how you get on, I'd be keen to know. I now take my car
to another place where they seem impressed with my cold air system.

The other two switches are the dash dimmer and heated rear window (for hard
tops if fitted).

Cheers

switches???

Post by karlncas » Sun Mar 05, 2006 8:46 pm

Hi gazza,

I just welded it up and threw some primer on it for now, that kept the guy
happy, now I have to decide if there is any other options to get a decent
amount of cold air into the pod filter or weather I just leave it as is, I
think it all depends on whom you run into on the day as to weather they will
pass it or not and they are generally not the type of people you can debate
with, they seem to be right all the time and there is no changing there
mind.

Thanks for the info on the switches

Cant wait to see your modifications

Karl and Cassie

Hello,
our 96 MX5 has developed a couple of noises, which I'm hoping you may be
able to diagnose.
Firstly, there is a clicking rattle from the back of the car over bumps-
doesn't take much of a bump to get it going. Sounds like sometime loose. I
took it to an exhaust place, and they gave the exhaust a good shake, cut of
some heat sheilding, which did not solve the problem. The rear shocks are
Konis which I'm hoping are not the cause...
Secondly, (I'm a little suspicious about this one, for it sounds nasty)
there is a clunk coming from under the middle of the car-somewhere around
the drive shaft between the seats when I brake, and change direction like in
a parking situation. Strangely it started after replacing all the tires last
week (probably a coincidence).

Was also wondering if all the struts and strengthening under the car and
over the engine needs to be tightened now and then? Noticed some have a nut
and thread.
Cheers,
Peter

Just make up a small aluminium plate to cover the hole
painted the same colour as the car when you go for a
warrant. use the factory washer bottle screw holes
either side to hold it in. If you trim the plate
exactly the same shape as that "firewall" face they
wont even notice it. especially if you put youre
washer bottle back in infront.
Easy solution that only takes 2 minutes to fit every
six months.
