Al's Upholstery (Auckland)

I need some work done on my roof - normally my first stop would be Al's
Upholstery, but I seem to recall hearing that he was out of the business
due to ill health. I drove past his premises today (ie. his house) and
it didn't look like anything was open.

Can anyone tell me if he is still around? I don't want to trouble him
if he's not working any more. If he's not working, can anyone suggest a
replacement on the North Shore who would be equally helpful?

(yes, I did a search of the mx5club email archives, but didn't find
anything informative, except that the last confirmed sighting of him was
around the middle of last year)

Following Al's forced and unfortunate retirement an upholsterer who offers the same service took Al's mobile telephone number - 025 937 009. He has approached the Club Committee with a view to offering the same pricing to Members as Al did. I cannot recall his name, or the name of his company but I think that a few people have dealt with him and been happy with the results.

Yes, I can recommend Tim, he did some work on the zip on my hood, prompt,
well priced and he looked like he did good work, based on what I saw in his
shop.
