Maintance and updates

Hi All,

Had a brilliant weekend in Betsy, we drove through the Akatarawa's to
Waikane. A tight and windy drive with great views on the both sides of
the hill. It took about 15 minutes longer than taking the main road
from Stokes Valley over Hayward's Hill and up the coast. Lovely weather
and went to the Nga AMnu Bird Sanctuary for the first since I was a
(little) kid.

When we brought Betsy we discovered that, amongst other things, the roof
leaked like a sieve around the joins in the rubber seals. After
adjusting the roof to see if a tight seal could be accolmpished, it
couldn't, I called the Capital City Mazda about replacement seals I was
informed that they were $270+GST per side, excluding fitting. As this
was pricey, to say the least, I contacted Ross at MX5 Mart and got both
sides for $90, including GST and freight. I fitted them last weekend
and they leaked a little during car washing, but during a heavy
Wellington downpour last week not a drop came through! My credits with
the "boss" are up, and I feel quite proud of my self.

This weekend I am doing the windows, the passenger side window refuses
to go down at all and the drivers side is slow. I hope this is just a
contact issue.

One of the bulbs in the instrument panel has died, I wadded through the
Hyanes Manual to see how these are replaced, it appears the entire dash
surround needs to come out. Is there is simple way of replacing these?

Enjoying the fun!

Our roof doesn't leak but if the wind and rain hits at the wrong angle the
top centre of the window seals drip. If I am driving, it leaks on the
driver's side but if I am passenger it leaks on the passenger's side! I
think the car has it in for me. Luckily it doesn't rain much in sunny
Blenheim and we rarely have to travel with the roof up.

John,

from your note it looks like you are from SV.

re the bulbs, I live in Stokes Valley so if you want I can show you how the
cluster comes out to do the bulbs, I have a spare cluster so can show you
how to get at the bulbs from the back if you want to try to replace without
taking it out.

send me an email direct if you want and I will give you some contact
details.

Mike
