Congratulations!
Age DOES have its benefits :-)
Look forward to seeing you on the road sometime.
Cheers

Congratulations!

re insurance,
I wood double check sum insured that matched to the new value of your car
which now has turbo.
(original + what was worth by modification you made.

Most of insurance does not automatically change value of cars when you added
something like turbo.

Took the day off to get the car cert'd, and thought id
drop in to AMI to get the insurance sorted for the
car now thats its been given the big grunt.
I advised the lady behind the counter that it was
now fitted with a turbo and it required a cert as it
was a major modification...
she entered it into her computor and and said, "no
problem" then i asked what the new premium would be
and she told me that there would be no change in
premium or excess. I made her double check that she
had enterd the turbo mod in the right places and she
had.
I guess its because i am now old enough (29) not to be
considered a boy racer any more!
So i now have the car road legal and insured, WHEW.

Just thought some of you would like to see this far
out modd'd MX-5..
I actually would like it more if it lost the rear
wing and got those same wheels but in a smaller
diameter of say 16" instead of 18"..
What do you think???

Turbo Insurance...Yay for A.M.I

Post by DBM58 » Thu Feb 23, 2006 4:54 pm

When I approached AMI with a view to insuring the replacement to my standard 1989 car, I gave them a detailed list of the modifications made to the new car, by MazdaSpeed, before it was imported into New Zealand. After reading the list they only had one question, does it have a turbo-charger? To which I could only answer no. They did not seem to be at all concerned about the supercharger though.

The wheels were custom made for the car..Three piece
rims.
Man if you could get them in a similar aggressive
offset that would fit under the stock gaurds in 16"
size id be off to cash converters to pawn off
everything i could lay my hands on. I REALLY like
those wheel spokes.
