I've always liked Top Gear, but I agree 100% with what you've said here.
The high speeds Clarkson was reaching through Europe were very dangerous and
the show glamorised it. So he can keep his "hairdressers car" comments
about the MX5. The guy's a clown who needs to grow up.

Cheers

i totally agree.
i think people mistake Clarkson (who's a dick) with the show (that is great).
just my humble opinion of course...
it doesn't help that he spouts off about bikes constantly and i'm a
motorcyclist.

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can recommend a Wheel Alignment outlet in Auckland (city area preferred) or on the North Shore please.

Someone had mentioned awhile back a place on New/Great North Road they had thought were particularly good.

Oh, and what is the guesstimate on costing? I have been quoted between $60 and $75 by tyre outlets.

Thanks, and have a great long weekend :O)

I actually think that Clarkson is very funny - I also buy all his DVD's
and read his books.

Top Gear was around for a long time before he came to the show - and it
was rubbish. I have a clip of the original MX5 being reviewed on Top
Gear - it was soooo boring that even I lost interest. He made the show
what it is today - we should forgive him for the odd bad show.

However, he should not be forgiven for doing something as dangerous as
the high speed drive whilst falling asleep. That was simply
irresponsible, and sets a stupid example.

I think we teach him a lesson and all boycott buying million dollar
McLaren Mercedes - that will teach them!

However, on a different show, did he not compare all of the roadster type sports cars available in Britain (I may have the description wrong there), and judge the (NB) MX5 as by far and away the best?

Chris

Clarkson can be funny and you're probably right about him making Top Gear
what it is today. But it's often said that a person's true personality
comes out when behind the wheel...

In Franklin there's a very good safety message placed on the side of an open
stretch of road: "Franklin has one racetrack - this isn't it".

It's great to go as fast as you can go and I love it - but strictly on the
track, or organised closed road or airfield events. It's another reason for
clubs like this one.

Cheers
Mark

Oh quit yer complainin...

Some of us have led a horribly deprived existence in relation to this mythical "Top Gear" programme you all rave about.

...more embarassingly I actually had to Google "Th' Stig" to figure out what that was...

Just thought you could all use a laff for a Friday... and if there's anyone out there who can install tv aerials... :O)

But if my memory is still working I think it was Richard Hammond who did the segment, not JC.
TG Sports, classic roadster - modern technology. NA1800, 99 head, 11:1 +2mm Wiseco pistons, Link LEM, Alloy f/wheel, JR headers.

Not sure. I think Richard Hammond did the NC and Jeremy Clarkson the NB - I seem to recall that he looked silly with his head high and in the wind.

JC has done a few "high speed" drives across Europe.

Which one are we talking about?

As much as it looks like he's "racing" against the clock, keep in mind he
has to go slow enough for the camera car to keep up and or stop at the side
of the road to do drive by shots etc.

Hell, lets not get truth get in the way of a good story.

- Dave.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I must admit I think the JC is funny but also full of BS.
The thing that concerns me about the show is not only the
races acroos Europe but a few times they've gone to the pub
'for a few' or back to someones place, then they all take
off in their cars. Another great media role model moment.
