Horns

Post by DBM58 » Tue Jan 27, 2009 8:43 pm

As an alternative to air horns - awkward to find space to fit - to replace the rather feeble original pair, I have chanced upon a second-hand pair of electric horns from a Mazda 6 wagon - newer than 2002. It would make sense that they are also found in other models in the Mazda range. The end result is that it took no more than 15 minutes to remove the original horns and fit these in their place. And, I was able re-use the original wiring / connectors, and mounting brackets.

Horns

Repco have some FIAMM AM80s. They are packaged as a pair with different
frequencies. These don't sound too bad and can be wired directly to the
original wiring. Current consumption is near enough the same as the OEM
horns so no re-wiring required. Much louder than the OEM one on my NC. The
hard part is fitting them as it looks like you need to remove the front of
the car to get at them.

Yes you can, however you need to take the whole front off to get at the back
mountings.
