Auto electrician on the shore?

Post by Shermio » Sun Dec 02, 2007 4:40 pm

Hmmm I have recently come across a problem with my headlights (Not the ones I have been tinkering with) My low beams seem to have dodgy wires..

When I switch them on only one side would be on, I have to wiggle the wires to get them going... and just recently both sides have done the same... and the driver side will not switch on at all now even with wiggling...

any advice is much appreciated!

The bulbs are fine, tried switching to other bulbs same deal, Passenger side with some wiggling I can get them going, and once they go they stay going for a long drive... very weird! Oh yeah checked the fuses too nada!

Milford Autoelectrical on Porana Rd is good (not the cheapest but) ... Steve was building up a drag MX5 at one point.

I had grounding problems with my 1998 NB not long after I bought it. Sorted
it out by cleaning and repairing the connections to a multiple ground point
under the headlights. Your later model possibly has a similar grounding
point so probably worth checking. My problem was with the airbag system
detecting the poor ground as a fault and shutting the engine down, but only
if the right hand indicator was on!
The headlights share the same ground point I think.
