NB OEM stereo removal - Door Vibration

Post by poison » Sun Oct 22, 2006 1:21 am

I couldn't find any 8" so I just used 6 1/2" components but now the doors vibrate with the bass, I recall reading somewhere that this is a common problem. Has anyone found this and come up with a cure? Any other ideas please???

Three options:
1. High pass filter before amp (e.g. @40-120hz)
2. High pass passive filter at speakers (hmm, not too practical)
3. Less volume...

MX5 doors aren't designed as subwoofer enclosures. The best method is
to use a matched active crossover to roll off the main speakers and the
subwoofer at the same crossover point (or a head unit that does this for
you). Do you have a subwoofer already and a crossover for it?

I have a couple of active crossovers if you want to try and see if they
work.
