TAIL LIGHTS & INSTRUMENT LIGHTS DEAD

Post by GRUVBB » Thu Mar 30, 2017 11:08 am

My tail lights and instrument panel lights have died. A couple of times they have come back but only short term.
I obviously suspect a loose plug of dirty earth as the culprit.
Any ideas where to look first please....under bonnet...in boot...behind dash etc.
Surely someone else has experienced this previously.
Thanks in advance. Tim

If headlights, tail and instruments check from the light switch towards the fusebox first.
If its tail and instruments only, check the fusebox first as they are on a different circuit to the headlights. Get a multimeter or test lamp and check all connections until there is no current.

Have not had a chance to look yet but have noticed that headlights work on low beam but when flick to high they go off completely.
Will check from switch onwards...I have multimeters and test light. Just wanted advice of best place to start testing from. Cheers Stevo.

had a quick look today....after getting a compliance ticket...lol..... I think issue is the switch mechanism. after pulling plugs the headlights would not flip up from light switch but would from flip switch. wiggled assembly and it came right . high beam and instrument still not going though....after wiggling switch the main beam and lllumination both failed at different times.

Does someone have a spare switch assembly for an NA I could plug into my loom to check if thats issue before having to buy one????
