New Battery

Post by Donovan » Tue Feb 23, 2016 4:46 pm

My old battery is on it's way out, was thinking about replacing it with one of those light weight race units, think they are lithium-ion batteries.

Anyway, anyone know of a good place to get them.

damn straight. Problem is I want to loose weight from the front not the rear, but will take what I can get.

Get a N200U battery, it'll help with the weight distribution

Can Recommend a
ODYSSEY PC680 - we use them in all our road and race cars.
Lightweight, small and tons of starting grunt.
Forget buying locally though - we just got two off E-bay shipped from the UK and landed for less than one off the NZ Agent
I'm all for supporting local industry and would definitely prefer too, but they've got their pricing all F**cked up.

A smaller engine would help with weight loss

So is this it?

http://www.powervampracing.co.nz/Shop/b ... 80-battery

Seems to be not that much more than buying it from overseas, although some of the places that I looked at, where asking close to $500 for them??

Dunno how people can justify such a range.

I use a Vertex race battery (out of Auckland...just trying to remember where!)...Has been excellent...and is reasonable.

Thanks, looked at the Vertex before, only around $225, but the guy that sells them, reckons that they would be no good for starting the V8, only handles little 4cyl motors. Pity, as they are even lighter than the odyssey, and cheaper, which are my two favorite things.

Yep...that's the one I have.
They used to have others in the Vertex range, suitable for V8s but no longer by the looks of it. Not sure if they others they sell would suit your application....
