Fun fact: NA6

If the little lights up/hazard lights plug behind your centre heating console thingy is unplugged, your headlights won't come up when you flick them on.

Ask me how I know.

Also, carry around a pocket screwdriver set and a torch because if it's dark you're fucked.

+1 to this, except I found out after finishing work at 10. Cue panic because I didn't have any screwdrivers, somehow my team leader in a call centre had one at his desk. Saved my ass.

Also, if the control relay under the dash becomes unplugged during alarm installation (apparently purely coincidentaly) the pop ups dont work, as me how i know ;-(

My indicator relay came free during an alarm install. Dude who did it came around the next day to sort it out because I had no indicators.
If it were a big issue it woulda been free, but a quick easy free fix is always good.

Warlocks installed my alarm. Didnt find out till that night the lights didnt pop up, fortunatly i knew where the manual winding knobs were. Had a look under the dash the next day and the relay (right next to the alarm unit) was unplugged, phoned them and the guy was quite adamant it was a coincidence and not their fault, not even a sorry for the inconvieience.

We've established that they're dicks previously.
Ok, so, where's the manual winder?

Pop the bonnet and on each headlight motor you will see a black rubber cover on top, remove that and there is a knob to manually wind the lights up or down. From memory the knob is red with direction arrows on the top

The headlight retractors will match the correct state for the lights/switch, so manually turning the adjuster will make the motor kick in and retract them again. If you ever need to manually wind them up, pulling the retractor fuse in the engine bay fusebox lets you manually set the position.

Or if the relay is disconnected or the pop up circuit is otherwise broken
