Alternator removal NA

Post by GRUVBB » Sun May 26, 2013 8:34 am

I need to remove my alternator as it is not charging. Had warning light flash up other day and went away with a rev. Couple days later could hear belt screech a little. Yesterday went for drive to warm oils so could do diff and gearbox oil change. warning light came on and stayed on.Got home and adjusted tension on belt. Checked again this morning and alternator not charging. Used multimeter and voltage about 11.5 volts when running. Suspect rectifier gone in alternator.... Is it easiest to remove from beneath the car or from the top. Maybe remove alloy brace like when accessing oil filter?? Any hints greatly appreciated thanks.

My auto sparky friend has taken control of this task now. Each to their own trade. I'll go do my skills and get paid and then pay him for his skills. .. Will be back on the road quicker this way. Thanks for input team.

My lucky day... Auto sparky found loose connection due to a missing lock washer. Replaced terminal and inserted flat washers and lock washers. Tightened connection. Problem sorted. No charge. Thank goodness for honest reputable tradesmen. Thanks for your input once again guys. :D
