Headrest Speakers - Boschmann 3"

Post by amaurosisbrown » Mon Mar 18, 2013 10:17 pm

I bought my MX-5 just a week ago, so this will be my first post of many.
The passenger headrest speakers were blown, so I have removed them, and am looking for a replacement. Has anyone tried the 3" Boschmanns? Could I use a couple of 1" tweeters? I'm 43 and will mostly be playing my Wedding Present CDs or listening to podcasts on the way to work (so thumping bass is not necessary). Cheers in advance

Etchonline sell the 3" speakers for $30, but they also do wee little 1" tweeters for $10 (these would fit nicely in the original speaker cases).
Do the door speakers do the bulk of the work? Are the headrests just filling in?

I'm too lazy to summarise but my speakers died and I'm down to one iffy door speaker and a pretty crap head deck that plays CDs but skips all the time

When my headrest speakers did work, I found that they weren't particularly flash anyway and I put most of the noise to the front speakers

I put in JVC 4" speakers and it was well worth it (2 pair @ $30 a pair)

here is a useful guide:
