Retrofitting A/C?

Post by Angreal » Fri Aug 31, 2012 9:22 pm

I was wondering if its possible to retrofit a more efficient aircon unit into an na as my current unit is very power hungry... Especially when compared to the unit in my work car.

Anyone know if it can be done, if its easy-ish and not too expensive on the wallet?

think it falls into the to hard basket bud, could try a later model system but you would need the whole system to get flows right and handle the different refridgerants, the pumps themselves dont change a hell of alot i dont think. but may pay to contact a specialist concerning this as all we would do is remove a/c and put it in the closest bin

Ah well. Guess i'll put it in the too hard basket and go for the more power option then  it really only affects me when sitting in peakhour traffic in first gear. It definitely sounds more hassle than its worth

is your idle dropping too much?
maybe you need to clean your throttle body and idle up valve. they get pretty gunked up causing low idle.
