Cibies vs Raybrig housings (standard bulbs h4 or brighter)

Post by Ghost_nzl » Mon Jul 16, 2012 6:39 am

Hi guys am considering buying some raybrigs with h4 bulbs or possibly brighter blue bulbs which put out white light, however I've had a close look at my current ones which have a Cibie marking on them.

Is there any gain from switching to Raybrigs? Ive heard they put out more light. What im aiming for is to be more visible to other cars and if possible be able to see a bit further. Dont want to be blinding oncoming cars though!

Thanks for any answers

from most reports ive read the cibies are pretty dam good anyway.
one of the things you could do is upgrade your wiring to the headligts that will make more difference than going from H4 cibies to raybrigs.

Some good bulbs should make a difference too.
Hella and Narva both do bulbs that will put out more light as well as better "colour"
Am doing this to the GFs MX this weekend. Hella p/n XD1255/60UP
My gf has a cooler car than me :(

I've recently installed Raybrigs in mine going from whichever sealed beams were in there previously and the light was much better off the bat using the standard bulbs that came in them. The cutoff was much sharper too, compared with the overall blur of the sealed beams.

I also bought some new 4000K bulbs today and put them in, but I haven't seen them in the dark yet. When I did turn them on to check, they appeared very very white and bright even in the sunlight. They are the Calibre brand from Super Cheap Auto.
