Adjustable coilovers help

Post by warrior » Tue Jan 31, 2012 7:24 pm

Hi, need some help. Looking for some adjustable coilovers for my NA. It is a road only car but I am ok with a firmer ride but not too hard. I am looking for value for money (who isnt?).

I dont want to spend a fortune but I am willing to pay for decent gear, maybe even second hand.

What I need is brand names, appox prices and where I can get them from. Anyhelp, suggestions on brands etc would be great.

Cheers

BC Gold
HSD
GAB

All seem to be in the 1200-1600 price range, depending on who you buy from.

The real question is if it's a road-only car, why do you need adjustable suspension?

Why dont you get some Koni's from these guys! www.good-win-racing.com/

I did [all four landed for around $800.00]..its still a good deal as you get three height settings plus firm to soft adjustable damper settings. If bought here in NZ from a dealer they wanted around $1500.00!

you will need a cert for this as they will become adjustable platform suspension

you could go for a set of bilsteins or koni and machine another grove lower if you want to get low without cert

i have BC GOLD at the mo and they get low and still have a reasonably good ride and arent too hard on about half hard

Do they fit an NA? My earlier hunt for shocks indicated NB's dont fit?...something like the fronts do & the backs dont! [or the other way round]?

I'm really stoked with the HSD set I got.

MUCH firmer ride but better as well. My friend (ex stock NA mx5 owner) recently had a good fang in it and could not believe how much nicer the car rode, even with nearly double the spring rate.

Track Day at Hampton proved it to me without a doubt.

But a used set of Teins might be hard to go past.....

Still waiting on mine, was told just before Christmas they'd be here in the new year... the joys of shipping delays :x

I ordered mine through D1NZ/Dodson's auction on TradeMe. Mine were $1250 but I believe that was a special price...

Mine arrived yesterday, Dodson's were very good in getting them couriered to me to make up for the shipping delay from overseas. Got the rears installed last night, so fronts will go in today, all smoothly going to plan.

I've never had coilovers before, but I was impressed with the appearance and quality of their construction. I'll hold off commenting further until I get them installed, broken in and some road testing done, but so far I'm happy :)

Still satisfied. Managed to get them installed today. The fruits of my labour:

Minor adjustment required to the rear, but I'll get the alignment folks to sort that out when they're setting up the alignment and corner balance, if I can find somewhere decent to do both.
