Door Mirror replacement

Post by Donovan » Wed Feb 02, 2011 4:31 pm

Stupid question for the month, but does anyone know whether the side mirror on the door screws into a couple of nuts that are fixed to the door skin or the nuts just loose, and you have to pull off the door trim to undo them and put them back on?

Just being lazy, and don't want to pull off the door trim if I don't have to.

Yup, know that part, but what do those bolts screw into. Is it threaded metal part of the door skin, or just some nuts that are going to fall off when I undo them (or that I have to hold in place to loosen)

also if your mirror wont stay in position you will need to tighten the nut on the bottom you will see when you turn it up side down
careful the shaft WILL be rusty if it hasnt been changed before and will probibly brake in wich case you will need to take the glass out to replace it by carefully taking the black ring off (i use a bog spreader to pry it apart) then the glass will pop out try and use a stainless bolt if possible when you replace it

yah, then that's means I don't have to take the door trim off, and get covered in that black gunky sticky stuff that holds the dust plastic thingy to the door. That stuff is just nasty.
