Define what part of the suspension you are looking for one of???do you mean springs, shocks, sway bars or links? Most likely you are talking shocks, and the answer is no. You can use NA (MK1) shocks on an NB (Mk2) but you can’t use NB rear shocks on an NA. The critical part of shocks is the travel, get it wrong and it can be death. There may be some other car shocks that fit, but will be nearly impossible to find which.

There are a set of Koni adjustable shocks, from Jif on the for sale section which are a wickedly good deal. You can use the standard springs or buy harder springs for about $350, and there are 3 height adjustments via cir-clip. I have a front set of genuine HKS H-per D’s with HKS springs, these are fully adjustable for height and stiffness and were about $4000 a set of 4 in Japan, and look sh*t hot in purple alloy and chrome. They fit an NA or NB, they have just been checked and dyno’d and are in great condition. I’m looking at $500 for the pair of these. I believe the spring rate on these is 6kg/mm but I am not 100% on that one.

Jif, I read you can’t use the NB rears on an NA. Hence the need for those shock mounts you had for the rear end of the NA. Like most things this is something I read in a couple of places and can’t confirm from experience.

PS how do you include the quote when emailing….

I'm pretty sure the entire NB shock assembly (incl shock top mount)
can drop into an NA. The market for your shocks just tripled in size
;)

Thanks, the only obvious difference with the stock NA and NB shocks I could
see are that the NA springs are flat at the top and bottom and the NB
aren't. Also the NB seems to have a lot more rubber bushes on top of the
shock mounting plate.

For an incredible amount of information on suspension go to....
www.fatcatmotorsports.com and then from the list on he left select "Chassis
Set-up" and then "Suspension Spreadsheet". It will let you download a spread
sheet with tons of Miata suspension information.
