What size tyre are you running on 8" rims?
hello again
I am looking at some 8" rims and was wondering what sort of tyre people are using on them and what they look like fitted (the tyre on the rims I mean) if anyone has photos. I gather that for a LVVT certification they need to be 225 wide unless they are a specific brand (I think firestone make a 205 that will pass certification but it could be another brand)
anyhow, if anyone has any pics of sexiness, I would be very appreciative.

I run 205/50/15s not huge stretch and are only a couple of mill off the standard rolling diameter from stock.sprsta wrote:Falken do a 195/45/15 that can go on an 8.

I do plan on 225/45/15 once these are past it however.

even with how low you are you should be sweet, at 20ish old stock height only rubbed on mega bumps and at full lock and that was just the plastic guard liners.CordedBowl wrote:Evel, are you running spacers too? Can't remember
Edit: I'm looking at getting some 15x8 +10's and running some 205 50's, hoping to run them without redonk camber
M&T rolled the lip on the back a little and I had to bend back the tabs in the front from the inner guard liners.

Here it is with no spacers, no flares on factory bilsteins. I thought I had more photos but i was probably too ashamed at the time

Rims
We have 8" rims on the rear of our 2005 NC with 225x45x17 Bridgestone Adrenaline RE002 & 7 1/2" rims on the front with 215x45x17.
Car came into the country with these rims (Advan Racing) on it, have just replaced the old tyres (Dunlop DZ1?)
Very impressed with the Bridgestone, much quieter and seem to stick very well.

Well, I have splashed out and bought some XXR002's off tardme (inc shipping they came to $905) and they are the same as the ones in Mrjstars pic but mine have black centers instead of gunmetal grey. I could have imported them for cheaper but for the sake of piece of mind in case something goes wrong I chose to pay a little more (its easier to hunt someone down here in NZ instead of getting screwed by someone in another country and have them laugh at your impotence (I had a bad experience many years ago when I was sent damaged products from Singapore and the seller knew I could do nothing about it and that has always left a bitter and mildly suspicious memory of online foreign purchases).
I plan on running 205/50/15's or 205/60/15's on them but may seriously consider running 225/45/15's although I know they will cost a small fortune.
Could someone in the know please clarify something for me...
I plan on turbo'ing my whip after winter (2low2c gave me the wise advice to wait until the roads are dry as my baby will behave differently with a new lease of life and I would hate to be a numbnut and stack my pride and joy) So after that is done I will have to be getting a LVVT cert because I like to be all legal beagle and from what their pdf guide says, for an 8" rim I would need to run 225 width tyres. However, I have been told that Falken make a 205 that will pass cert as they are the only manufacturer to guarantee the safety of their tyres on that width rim. So here are my questions:
1) if I went for a 225 width tyre, would any brand pass cert on an 8" rim?
2) if 205 Falken's would pass cert on an 8" rim, would it have to be a specific model of tyre or would any 205/50/15 Falken be ok?
3) if Falken's are fine for cert, where would be the best value place to get some? I find most tyre places a bit of a ripoff considering they would have to be ordering them in for me anyhow.
4) in regards to a LVVT cert, can I still mod my car after the cert is done without having to get it re-certed as long as the mods do not require certification? eg if later on down the line I got a fastback hardtop, would I have to get it re certed even though I normally would not need a cert for the hardtop?
Thanks again everyone for imparting your answers, feedback and suggestions
This is the LVVT tyre guide I am referencing:

This is a pic of the Rims I am awaiting the arrival of:
And although some will hate me for doing this (taste is subjective) I will be fitting flares onto my arches to alter the silhouette/profile of my car to suit the rims and make my car look a little wider. These are the flares I have been sitting on for about a year awaiting this upcoming alteration.

Is that actually the case?
I know someone who increased his ride height for Christchurch "roads" and was required to resubmit for certifying. As far as I'm aware, providing there is a certain clearance (can't remember off the top of my head what that is!) between structural components and road, a vehicle doesn't require to be certified for being lowered (or raised) to a point below OEM.
So raising it above that limit mean it doesn't need to be recertified, right?
It wasn't that coilovers had been installed - they'd already been certed for install.
I'm not being a trollfag, genuinely seeking clarification...

Regarding the ride height, anything above 100mm is OK while adjustable suspension and going below 100mm require certification (this 100mm is from the ground to the bottom of the actual chassis)
-=edit=-
and when you cert your adjustable coilovers, they get certed for the height they are at the time of certification -/+ 5% so basically for your adjustable suspension to be legal, they want you to select a height and stay at that height (which kind of made the whole 'adjustable' aspect of adjustable suspension kind of redundant)
At least that is my understanding of the laws on ride height.
