Front Hub Replacement

Post by Keith Jones » Wed Mar 18, 2015 10:53 am

Does anyone have a recommendation on where to buy a new front hub for an NA? During last weekend's race meeting it was clear that the bearing is shot.

Thanks for the link. RockAuto seems well stocked for MX5s, and shipping costs are reasonable for a change.
Pity they don't do performance parts.

I know that Auckland Bearings do them quite cheap.

Repack with nicer grease and you should be good as gold. (I use Amsoil, REDBEN I think used some other stuff that he had but I can't recall the name).

Worth checking the type of grease seal they use on it; I know that the grease seal (hub side) of the ones from Repco aren't as good as the OEM factory units (they work fine but the design isn't as refined to put it in as few words as possible).

Got one of the better quality offerings on Amazon, NZ$160.
Have repacked it with Amsoil 2000 Racing Grease.
