Tyres or suspension on my NA?

Post by Ralph66 » Tue Dec 09, 2014 2:23 pm

Hi guys.

We are thinking of changing tyres on our 89 NA because we have somebody roll, tail action!
Wondering if it is suspension or tyres?

Any ideas, help, before I make my way to a 'shop' and spend money unnecessarily.

Still running on factory 'daisy' rims.
185/60/14.

Looking for something with a bit of grip.

Need to stop this before my sons ends up in the ditch!

Any ideas?

I appreciate that this question may have been asked before.

Thanks

Update. Shocks replaced and wheel alignment. What a difference.

You can probably get something reasonable in the $130 - $150 each price range from a good tyre manufacturer (Toyo, Yokohama, Goodyear etc.)

A friend has Toyo TEO plus tyres on his 1990; they weren't expensive and they get the job done. Grip is good, even in the wet.

I would also recommend a wheel alignment while you're at it. If they're out of alignment it'll cause less traction.

I dont think people mind answering questions for people who seem genuine and nice. Its when the old "need some tirez for the 15x8s, thinking 185's but still want lots of grip up front becuz itz a drift kor" people get the shits up them.
