Another bloody wheel query

Post by 4A-GE » Tue Jun 17, 2014 3:15 pm

Will NA8 front brakes fit under NA6 14" daisy wheels?

Probably. My na8 ran on 14s and the old 14s still fit with the FM LBBK on 15" rotors

Crap. Obviously haven't had enough coffee. 11" (well they're less) NB "sports" brake rotors as they're often referred to as

The 15" is the wheel size I keep looking at  But good spotting

Yes. Yes they will.

[Edit: I'm only talking about the front calipers; I haven't compared rear calipers :)]

The caliper is essentially the same design, it just has a larger diameter rotor and caliper mounting brackets... the back-spacing requirements are the same.

The only real difference between the NA6 and NA8 caliper is that the big hole and small hole were swapped. You don't even need new calipers to do the NA8 brake upgrade, you can swap the left and right mounting brackets over. I don't know Mazda's reasons for the change.

Usual legal bullshit: this brake modification requires a LVV cert. It's unlikely that anybody will ever notice at a WOF, but may have some insurance implications yada yada yada

Bigger brakes do require a cert even if you are using factory stuff unfortunately, ran into that problem on my starlet when my wof guy noticed i'd put the bigger glanza disks and calliper carriers on it
