Driveline shudder

Post by warrior » Mon Jun 24, 2013 8:26 pm

My wives new car has what I would call a driveline shudder. Firstly I thought it was the clutch but now I,m not so sure.

It only happens at very low revs, 1500-2000 appox and is a bit worse when I am turning a corner compaired to going in a straight line, although it does happen in a straight line also.

I am fairly sure it is not the clutch.

I have another MX5 and it does not do this.

Any ideas where to start to look?

engine mounts or diff bushes. exessive play in the diff backlash can cause nasty vibration too.

Drive shaft universals ,Seem to a common problem with driveline shudder.

Can't say iv'e felt a perfect one yet at work,All seem to have some measure of play,But would be a place to start.

If you've taken a hit to the driveshaft, this can also cause vibrations
