Stiffer Diff Bushings.

Post by Mad Kiwi » Tue Mar 26, 2013 11:38 am

Anyone know if these are readily available here?

I have heard the negatives about high road noise etc but for the track I think it might help the axle tramp type effect I get at the start line.

Could be completely wrong too...

But I figure its worth a shot....

The energy suspension diff bushes are amazing I have a completely solid rear end in my mx5. Yes you have more road noise but no movement in the rear makes take offs really positive as theres no absorption through old rubber bushes 😊

I would skip the bushes and go straight to bigger swaybars... Ask Furai what difference the bushes made as he inherited my polyurethane ones and hasn't done much else except better shocks. In terms of doing the bushings for the rest of the car, they are well worth it!

I can't really tell how much the swaybars did by themselves as I combined them with a whole stack of other work, not to mention the standard swaybars are suuuuuper thin

I can vouch for the heavier sway bars, the diference was amazing. My car handled really well fro a road car (Keiths previous Koni Race setup) but adding the sway bars made the turn in and mid corner balance incredible.

I also have the PPF / Diff bracing from a 94 (complete subframe).

Are there any suppliers in NZ for the diff bushings?

I bought a complete set of poly bushings from flyin miata and I though it was a very reasonable price (I think a bit over 400NZD all up incl shipping?)

They also have the set of diff bushings on their own:

I didn't end up using the diff bushings that came with my kit as I'd just installed a Torsen from a 1.8 and I didn't feel like taking it out again so I sold them to another member.

The Beatrush PPF Stiffened up the diff quite a bit even with the stock bracing.

Those sway bushes made no difference... Angreal I thought this was about Diff stiffening?

I used to get a lot of axle hop on take off in the TG, even with the Energy diff mount bushes. Fitting the Beatrush PPF brace seems to have sorted it though. Ran 6 stages on the Targa Rallysprint and no axle hop on take off.

Can someone show me a pic of this 'Beatrush PPF Brace' installed on their car here please - is it a triangular thing?

Is there any rubber bushings in the three mounting points of the Beatrush ppf brace or is it just solid bolted?

Bolting to the diff is solid and it bolts with bushings at the back.

diff bushings

Post by mr_pool_pool2000 » Sat Apr 20, 2013 8:52 am

i purchaced polyurathane diff bushings from a member off this sight made a huge diffrence in quick takeoffs and shifting while going over bumpy roads or quick shifting. there is a noticible whine from rear diff now that is not supressed by bushing though. they are a mungral to get old ones out need to burn or drill or both to remove old ones took me 4 hrs to change never done it before this.

The rubber bushes need to be pressed in with a lot of force, are the new polyurethane diff bushes hard to install in a home workshop?

My car gets a bit of gear whine in 5th, but other than that both my Torsen diffs are pretty quiet. Is it possible that the PPF frame isn't aligned properly and it's putting some tension on the diff gears?

The polyurethane bushes are pretty easy to fit in with the grease they supply, if their a bit stubborn a set of poly-grips or a G clamp can easily aid them in!.
