anything less than perfect tarmac
I assume by this you mean 95% of NZ roads.
speaking of which, last time I was down Wellington, I was surprised how good the roads where in the section that links the beehive with the airport.... go figure, huh?

The bus depot is just around the corner from the beehive, and buses are really popular in Wellington so all the common routes have rather smooth roads.

My Nitto's are for the road only...I have Toyo 888's for the track so no idea how good the Nitto's might be at Taupo [are you on the MX5 Car Club Driver Training event?].
I was hoping to be there but still recovering from 3 broken ribs while downhill mountain biking in Whistler Canada!

Yes, it was the club Taupo weekend. A blast. Cannot fault the tyres. The only time they lost grip was when I got it wrong. Then the tiniest correction got them back.

I had Toyo T1Rs on my MR2 and loved them but couldnt find any for the MX5
I had a set of RE001's on the wheels I bought, liked them enough and had enough good praise from them from a mate in the Bizzo to now have RE002's all round, very very good tires in my experience, havent been able to get into trouble with them in the wet or dry.
