NB 2.5 Sport Calipers

Post by Donovan » Sun Sep 23, 2012 9:23 pm

Anyone know where I can get my hands on a right hand side NB 2.5 Caliper (for the 280mm rotor), seemed to somehow mangle one of mine in the last track day.

Sort of need it sooner rather than later, I have to finish off the cert process by the 2nd October

Sorry I don't have any but jeez, cutting it close on the time side of things? I'll keep an eye out though except the usual places I lurk for parts are overseas...

It's because I destroyed the front brakes after the last session, and it took over a month to get the repair kit for my 6 pots from the US. It was supposed to get the last things sort out last week (before the track day) but the guy doing it, his wife inconsiderately had their baby early, so he took off from work.

Since I paid for the track day, was sort of commited to go, thought I was over the last of my brake problems, but seems I was proved wrong

So, looks like I might have found a set of NB Sport big brake calipers from the good old US of A.

I have got a set of front brakes, rear brakes, BMC, booster and prop valve for what is going to end up cost less than the last set of rear calipers I just got. the guy was going to throw in rotors for me as well, but that would just end up costing too much in freight.

tossing up whether to get him to ship the BMC and booster, but I figure these are going to do a better job for the braking with the 6pots and the larger rears than the 1.6 ones that I have at the moment, so might as well get them.

I will be selling off the front calipers (sorry no rotors for them) if anyone want's to upgrade their front brakes?

Nice Find
I was about to upgrade from my 255mm to the 275mm sport brakes on my NB but its really hard to find those parts unless you win lotto and want to pay mazda

Ended up getting some SS Lines, Hawk Pads and new Rotors all round should do the trick

This. I personally prefer to have easy to find braking components, and good fluid, pads and rotors should stop you no matter what.

When you are barrelling along a straight on a track at over 210kph and then trying to pull up in about 100mtrs down to about 120kph, repetitively, then no matter what sort of goes out the window.

As for the 275mm rotors, you should be able to get them pretty easily, if not in NZ, then out of the US ($48USD from 949 Racing http://949racing.com/centricbrakerotors.aspx)

I'm pretty sure it's easy to get the rotors here from Mazda and shouldn't cost a mortgate. The difficult bit would be getting a hold of the calipers and caliper mounts to begin with?

The sport ones that come on the 11" rotors that were an option in the NBs and standard on the later ones. They also won't fit with RPF1s mind you it seems nothing seems to fit on those wheels anyway...

They do. Ah well, spacers deal with that problem though
