OZ Racing Coilovers - Are they any good?

Post by authentic » Mon Jun 18, 2012 5:54 pm

I was looking on trade me for a set of HSD coilovers, and asked on user 'tsoob's' auction if they were available for a NA6CE. He said they were 3 months away but offered a set of OZ Racing Coilovers for $1299.

Being fairly cheap, are they any good? Does anyone have them installed?

I couldn't find anything on them on miata.net or clubroadster.net. I'm thinking they might be called something different over there.

PM user 'chris' as I believe he was in the same situation and went with OZ Racing.

I brought from Dodsons expecting HSD's but basically they listed having HSD's for the MX5 when they didn't Grrrr.

He sussed me out with a set of Oz Racing coilovers, and they go low (just because I got bored one night) They have 32 way adjustable dampening (From memory). I have mine set pretty hard, but it's not to bad! Definitely driveable!

Just remember that the number of adjustment isn't the be-all, end-all measurement of a coilover's performance. You may find that you don't notice the difference between one click and the next :)

Regardless, I'm sure they'll be more than suitable, as would HSD or BC or any other comparably-priced and comparatively reputable brand of coilover :)

Both the people selling HSDs on Trade Me have offered me OZ Racing coilovers instead, so I might take them up on the offer.

If they have adjustable height bottom mounts then I'm happy, so I don't have to change the spring preload and that.

I certainly wouldn't be willing to go with adjustable suspension without adjustable bottom mounts. I had to wait for my HSD but it was certainly worthwhile. Couldn't compare them to OZ/BC/etc. though as they're the first coilovers I've had.

As Mr Shine said, these are also my first coilovers.. Although I have found the dampening extremely reliable :)

Well these will be my first coilovers too! If they're just different coloured BC Golds, then they must be sweet.

I'm really pleased with my HSD's and am thining about a second set for our other car.

It seems pretty poor form (if not against the rules) to advertise something you haven't got on trademe though.......

Does anyone know if Oz/BC golds considered as good or better than HSD's???

I have heard that the HSD is a rebranded stance coilover which is alot better than BCs for those who want to go Low
I have read alot of builds on CR that have swapped from BCs to Stance with Swift springs and they say they love them

I may be parting with my brand new 3 week old BC golds to pay for a root canal. PM me if you're interested.
