Yeah me too, damn fuel cap lever, my first solo drive of my new (OK Used) MX5, off to fill up with gas....and WTF?? Fortunately I found it after a few minutes of inner embarrassment. I thought I was goig to have to call someone for help. That would have been embarrassing. But be sure, if you should...

Wireless MP3 FM modulator

My daily drive is a Mazda 6, which, whilst adorned with numerous handy features, including a built in CD player that cannot be replaced by an off-the-shelf model, is unable to play music stored in MP3 format. I have rather a lot of these. One solution would be to buy some sort of Ipod thingy. Anothe...

Tuneing a supercharged NA

Chris Tarrant gave me the oxygen sensor that he took off his car - replaced it with a wide band type. I fitted it and it made no difference. From that and the fact that it was working on his car, it would seem that the problem was elsewhere. I did take the car to Mazda (Manukau) who used their diagn...

Tuneing a supercharged NA

I have an NA out of the MazdaSpeed factory that has been fitted with a Sebring supercharger and associated fittings. In mechanical parlance it is "running like a dog". Can anyone suggest where I can take it in Auckland for a good tune-up.

Thanks

Cables for window regulator

Sorry that it has taken so long to reply. Yes I did initially have trouble, but nothing that forethought could have prevented. i) As soldering is weaker than the original method of securing the cabe to the ferrule (braizing?), it is better to cut the cable to longer than the original. This means tha...

Cables for window regulator

Hi Eugene I have had some success replacing this cable with a bicycle brake / gear cable. The difference in cost is $10 compared to $100 and more for the regulator. You will have to spend the time dismantling / rebuilding whichever option you choose. If you have a mind to fix it yourself, I can send...

shudder/rev drop off

I bought my copy of the book from Technical Books in Newmarket. I took the version for the 1,6 liter but ther is also one for the 1.8 liter. I think that both are for the NA series.

shudder/rev drop off

I had a look through the "Mazda Miata Enthusiasts Shop Manual" last night and found that there is a lot more detail and explanation than there is in the Haynes manual. It has easy to follow guides that expand on the suggestions already made. You are welcome to borrow it if you like. I have fixed a c...

Tessellation software

I would like a new paint job, but in the original yellow. The tessellation thing is for a way of working out best sheet utilization when it comes to cutting out various different shapes.

Tessellation software

This has absolutely nothing to do with MX5s but can anyone suggest a simple (preferably shareware) program that can given total sheet size eg. 2400 x 1200) calculate the most efficient way to tessellate with smaller pieces.

Thanks

Honda Accord - nothing to do with MX5 but awesome video

I woke up to a Little Ray of Sunshine in my email this morning, in the form of the note and link below. It has nothing to do with MX5s but is well worth a look anyway. There are no computer graphics or digital tricks in the film. Everything you see really happened in real time exactly as you see it....

Stuff to sell

Hi Mike

When you say you have two left indicator units, do you mean the amber light on the side (of the bumper) or the combined indicator / park light in the front (or something else). I am looking for the front unit that has not had the indicator / park light modification.

Thanks

Toyo Proxes PX4

When I bought four Bridgestone Grid III from Performance Tyres in Morningside, he was able to supply at a price that the larger suppliers could only manage three. Maybe he could do the same for Toyos.

Seats have been the subject of several posts recently, specifically, cleaning and updating. All solutions involve spending money. I saw a set of bucket seats for sale on Trade Me this morning.

Wundblockers

Hi Keith I may well be in the minority here, but in my view, it is not worth the money or effort. I have an NA and very rarely use the windblocker. However, when I have the top down, the windows are down too, which would reduce the effect that the blocker has. You are welcome to borrow mine for a tr...

Hello to you Perhaps the reason behind the mismatched pair is that the previous owner had started to do the modification that swapped the locations of the indicator and park lights - resulting in a smaller indicator, but much brighter park light - and stopped after doing only one side (the "crystal"...
