Snow chains...

I have!

Page 15 in my JPNZ book says:
"If it does become necessary to fit tyre chains only fit the chains to the
rear wheels."

Then there's a nice wee sketch of an MX5 with a pile of snow on the soft top
showing chains on the rear wheels only.

Lucas electrics repair kit

Might be useful for any with a classic British car. Certainly not required for us enlightened MX5 owners.

IS THIS GORDONS NEW MX5???????

Me too. Always wanted a yellow one, probably because the Jensen Healey I had
all those years ago was yellow. Maybe Mazda will have a yellow special
edition for the 20th anniversary next year.

So much engine earthing....

I agree that good cable is required and different types for different needs. However for normal DC wiring and at audio frequencies all you need is plenty of copper. That is get wire with a suitable area or gauge to handle the current. It is not necessary to buy grossly overpriced stuff with pretty p...

So much engine earthing....

The only reason they make the car go better is that if you spent that much on fancy leads, of course it will go better! Bit like buying fancy gold plated monster cables to interconnect your digital audio gear. How many people fork out more than $100.00 for a fancy lead when a $10.00 one is just as g...

FM band converters?

I wouldn't get any of them. Replace the stereo with a new one. Keep the original though for when or if you sell the car. Due to the reduced tuning range of the Japanese domestic radios, with a band expander you won't be able to receive the whole of our FM band. You will need to choose whether to los...

A lot of them are here around Marlborough!
Something to do with the sunshine, great roads, scenery, wine and food here
I suspect.

Auto electrician on the shore?

I had grounding problems with my 1998 NB not long after I bought it. Sorted it out by cleaning and repairing the connections to a multiple ground point under the headlights. Your later model possibly has a similar grounding point so probably worth checking. My problem was with the airbag system dete...

how was the chateu at labour weekend?

Hi Nigel No problem with a link to the photos. Anyone can rummage around any of the albums if they wish, with the risk of getting bored quite quickly! Most of the photos are Caryl's. If you ever want a high quality version of anything on there, let me know and I can send it to you. We keep them all ...

Might have to go on the Snowball Run ourselves next year. Pity the ferry
adds such a lot to the budget though. Couldn't go last year as it was my
Mother in Law's 70th birthday so thought I should attend that.

how was the chateu at labour weekend?

A great weekend was had by all attendees I suspect. We South Islanders certainly enjoyed ourselves! Very well organised so thanks to all the hard workers that made it all happen so well. The weather was not the kindest on Saturday and Monday, but Sunday trip in to Turangi and the gymkhana enjoyed a ...

How do you reset the ECU on a NB

Just checked my 1998 NB. The brake lights do come on without the key in the
ignition.
Don't think I've come a cross a car where the key was required to enable the
brake lights.

MX5 1992 Roadster Petrol - 91 or 95

The difference in price of 91 to 95 is only 5 cents per litre and at about $1.60 per litre you only need to inprove the consumption by a little over 3% to break even. My 1992 auto MX5 improved by about 6% when I changed from 91 to 96 (at the time) fuel. The cost per km was therefore lower and the ca...

Ah.....not quite.
3dB is double the power but 10dB (or 1 Bel) is twice as loud to the average
ear's perception, if there is such a thing as the average ear.

Due to xtra's 'upgrade' it appears my posts aren't making it to the board! If you leave the OEM horns connected and also leave some hose to the airhorn trumpets, then a short poke of the horn button will result in the OEM beep. Hold the horn button and the OEM beep will be drowned out by the lovely ...

C'MON GUYS WHATS THE LATEST PROJECTS?????????

I have Fiamm air horns on my 1998 MX5. The trick to keep the delay to a minimum is to mount them so the length of plastic tubing is very short. Very little delay and definitely loud. The trumpets are red unfortunately but can't be seen so they don't clash with my rather elegant GREEN! My Nissan Terr...

Questions from a new owner

Thanks, I feel much better now! I work from home (and it's wet outside) so I am managing to do something towards fundraising for my NC eventually! I suspect yours won't have the boot release but shouldn't be too difficult to install. I put an electric one on mine operated from the alarm remote. Very...
