Bose CD/Radio keeps rejecting CDs

Have a look here:
http://www.madracki.com/miata/images/wiring/99sys.pdf

This is the USA wiring diagram for the 1999 (1998 in Japan) NB.
Might help you figure out what's happening. Not quite the same as the
Japanese car but cloe.

Bose CD/Radio keeps rejecting CDs

I didn't like the sound from the Bose system in mine (and I hate band expanders!) so replaced mine with an a JVC radio / cd with MP3 capability. Replaced the Bose door speakers and disconnected the Bose amplifier. I now have a radio that works properly and sounds much better than the Bose system. I ...

getting rid of the toothy grin?

Don't remove the tie down hooks. If the car breaks down then it is very difficult to safely drag the car on to a flat deck for transport. I have needed the hooks on my NA when the radiator split (Anzac Day of course) requiring it to be trucked 30km for repairs. My NB had to be trucked for repair whe...

Soft top tension cables - part no. ?

My bottom of the range (i.e. cheap) Robbins top did not come with replacement tension cables and springs. I reused the originals and the top fitted perfectly. No wrinkles and good sealing. This on a 1992 NA with over 200,00km on it. How would you know if the cables require replacement apart from obv...

Good alarm installer! - But need help with the M/W sensor

----- Original Message ----- From: "zorruno" <electrical@mx5forum.co.nz> My solution was to power it from the car rather than the batteries - and via the ign circuit. Then the key has to be in the ign to operate the opener. My garage door won't open if my house alarm is armed anyway, so this is just...

Good alarm installer! - But need help with the M/W sensor

I got that wrong! Quite right about the shape of the pattern. My explanation of the face it radiates from was very badly done as well. I agree with what you say about the control position etc. Must not reply to posts when tired! Mine is a two stage sensor and connecting the first stage only seems a ...

Good alarm installer! - But need help with the M/W sensor

The signal is from the same face of the unit as the controls are. If you set it so the controls are on the top, then the signal will go up. It is elliptical in shape so that sensitivity is greatest directly above with it dropping off towards the sides. If you park under a tree with low leafy branche...

Not all stations sell 98. If you can't get 98 (easy to find in Auckland though) then use 95. I use BP Ultimate as it's very convenient for me plus the AA rewards points are handy. My vehicles do about 80,000km a year so get through a bit of fuel. Electric window switches are notorious for getting di...

I built my own relay to operate the solenoid. It works off button 2 of the remote. You have to hold the button for about 3 seconds to operate the solenoid. I fitted (one of) my garage door remotes behind the dash with a small push button to operate it. It would be simple to add a relay to operate th...

Door Speakers in the NB - 6x9'sAnyone upgraded? what to buy?

I removed the horrible Bose ones from my NB and installed some 8" subwoofers from Supercheapauto. They bolt in easily. I couldn't see how to fit 6x9s without removing the original trim which I didn't want to do. Left the tweeters in place as they are normal impedance. Work well. I believe there are ...

I also fitted the same unit as yours with the microwave sensor. I also put the sensor under the window switches and had to set the sensitivity to minimum. It works well but not as sensitive as yours appears to be. Maybe mine was a bit down on performance? I would have liked to be able to reduce the ...

Hi Lawrence and welcome to the MX5 club! I run my 1992 MX5 on 98 octane. Runs better and works out slightly cheaper because of the improved economy. Same goes for my 1998 NB 1.8. My Honda Odyssey also benefits from 98, even more so than the MX5s. My daughter is now using the 1992 MX5 and its done ar...

I just fitted a basic Robbins top with fixed plastic window to my NA this weekend. I've had no experience at all doing this and although it took me about 8 hours all up I got it done. The biggest problem I had was when I tried to fit the metal retaining plate (that clamps the rear of the roof and th...

You could try these people perhaps: gailandhylke@paradise.net.nz. They were involved with organising the anniversary meeting last year so I imagine are still involved with the Christchurch group. They are a friendly lot (well they would be, they drive MX5's) but are not affiliated with the National ...

The amp for the Bose system fitted to my 1998 NB is fitted on the transmission tunnel just below the radio etc. I left mine there when I replaced the radio as I couldn't be bothered removing it. Just disconnected it. Might be room there for your amp. There is also room beside the petrol tank on the ...

Soft tops with glass windows and no zip?

The NB top is designed differently. Have a look inside one and you will see it has an extra sliding component to allow the movement of the glass. To fit an NA I assume you would need the later frame as well for it to work. It does reduce head room slightly. The new Z design works well but it does ta...

Of course we will. It would be fed and watered and more importantly

Boot luggage rack.

Have you considered a MaXi5ac or similar? Have you repositioned the spare
wheel under the floor? Repositioning the spare wheel will almost double the
useable boot space. The MaXi5ac also holds a surprising amount of gear.

The missing "Check Engine" light

NZ new and Japanese imports don't have the check engine light. I think it is
a requirement for all cars in the USA now, and has been for some years. I
assume your manual is based on USA model cars.

I had a problem with mine not long after I bought it. In my case I found the problem to be poor earthing. Behind the right headlight t...
