Managed to cut the dust/heat shields off. They're a nightmare but the 2nd one only took me about 5 mins with my new dremel attachment https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/291/19242106448_a254a8ee65_b.jpg IMAG0795 by Jarred McLachlan , on Flickr Got their EZlock unit. Thanks mate. Hopefully yeh, unfortunately it doesn't feel that way at the moment! So hit the knuckles up a bit further today and did some deciding about a few things. The dust shields are a prick to get off, the 3 bolts came off easy but they're between the hub and knuckle so I decided to cut them s...

So these turned up today. I had a laugh to myself thinking, who needs a resealable bag for their power steering bushes? Saves them going off if you look at them but don't install them for a while? https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/273/19293295166_4fe4d55cab_b.jpg IMAG0768 by Jarred McLachlan , on Flickr...

My Dad shot past today while I was at work and got the ball joint boots pressed on, exact same method I was trying but with a 2mm bigger ID pipe (40mm for anyone struggling with the same issue, Moog problem solvers ;) ). No pics as he's still got the arms but that means other than the knuckles the b...

Pretend the motor is in the car, undo the clutch line to it and wrap a rag around it so it doesn't drip. Unbolt the nut on it you can see. Inside the car on the firewall is another nut on the threaded rod that is attached to it (Undoing this one is the hardest part). Take it off, put the new one on....

Well this is probably the biggest update this car has seen in some time. I've got a deadline for our new location and a large package recently arrived with a bunch of stuff in it... Started with the last few parts from the motor. The coilpack bracket is apparently a pain in the ass to get at with th...

Final few pieces coming together now and 1 set back. James came over and let me compare his with mine so I could see whose was bigger, and where the hoses went that I was stuck with. This hard line was rusted to fuck, it attaches to the body and joins the motor radiator hose to the lower rad hose. O...

I estimated about 3 years worth of oil that leaked from the rear of my old motor made it onto this box unfortunately. The easy way to work out the drill size is to deduct the thread pitch from the thread size. Most 6mm grease nipples are 1.0mm pitch, so, yes, drill size would be 5.0mm. another wsy is to place thread into a drill index and drop back 3 drill sizes from there. usually you start with a primary tap whi...

Suspension arms are all done - All painted. Ordering my grease nipples tonight and will fit them in the next day or 2, hoping to find something self tapping otherwise I'll buy a tap and die set. Righteo. Upderts. Steering rack is booked in. Need pay so thats about a fortnight or 2 away. Decided to crack into the suspension arms. Sorted out the bushes - they're all in the right place and they all fit so have drilled the holes for the grease nipples. They're ordered too so they'll turn up in ...

Been a bit lazy with updates. Cleaned up a few parts. Started disassembling my steering rack to convert it. And some junk turned up. No one likes me talking so pictures :) Removing inner tie rods. Couldn't believe how hard it was to bend back the tabs, realised after about 5 mins of nursing it that ...

A productive few days. Subframe is hammerited. Few touch ups here and there. Recommends 2 coats over bare metal with the primer, 1 coat over paint. I did 2 over paint on top, 3 on bottom as I'll inevitably scratch it. Cost about 45 a can, and about 20 for the primer. Went on, oxidised red and brushe...

For now I'm going na8 with some high quality pads, fluids and rotors and will switch it up when I out brake them. I used to keep up with the boys I raced with on factory brakes so don't want to drop 1k there until I've outgrown them. Ducting to custom stone shields is likely to be one of the early m...

Right. Brakes are almost done again - Booster is in, MC is cleaned and just getting a lick of paint to tidy up the body of it. Wiper arms, boom and cowl all repainted and back in the car. Wiper motor and fuse box to go back in tomorrow night and then clutch master. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/735...

Not a big update but enough to warrant a picture. All hard lines are back in their place and the bonnet stay is also in. Chur James for sorting it out. Now I can work without losing my fucking head holding the bonnet up
