Ooops, hadn't seen that Siren had commented on this, but it looks as if it doesn't always work as planned.

I questioned Zorruno on this many years ago.
Apparently they are "sent" but don't appear in the Outbox until the recipient reads them.

Personally I would only use one of the recognised makes, eg. Racepro, Momo, Racetech, AutoSport.
Have a look at TradeMe 588383973.
RacePro seats will fit directly on MX5 runners with RacePro brackets and fit the car OK widthwise. The question is whether you would fit?

Don't be in too much of a hurry to remove splash guards even for a track car.
My metal guards looked as if someone had taken a BB gun to them after a day at a recently resurfaced Pukekohe.

Hey Harlan
I've still got my cover that I used for the race car.
It's a cut down full cover.
The side mirrors gothrough two holes, the rear gets shut in the boot and the front has a couple of eyelets for bungy straps.
Not pretty but it works.
Yours if you want it.

For the rears you have to back the pistons off using an Allen key. Access to the adjusting screw is through the hole after you take out the 8mm (12mm head) bolt on the back of the caliper. After you have put the new pads in, screw the pistons in using the Allen key until the rotors just start to bin...

If you are looking for parts that are not MX5 specific, eg. steering wheels, gauges etc, check out Merlin Motorsport http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/ Not only are their prices good, I just bought a good quality suede rimmed steering wheel for £89 (NZ$165) but delivery is excellent (less that a wee...

I'd suggest dropping your tyres pressures to 32psi hot and seeing if that is any better.
If I am doing training at Hampton the next time you are down there I'd be happy to jump in the car with you.

Spring rate ratio looks OK (a bit towards the oversteer end if anything).
What are the tyres - make and size?
36psi hot seems a bit high, particularly if you are running a low profile tyre. Does the car feel loose through the 2/3 corner complex (or anywhere else)?

Assuming tyre pressures are OK, understeer normally means the front end is too stiff. Uprating your front sway bar to 22mm will increase the tendancy to understeer, but spring rates are also in the equation. What rates are the Teins?

Nope, just a flat tray that extended back to the sump.See pic. I didn't have the radiator/intercooler ducted either. When I first built the car I went to great pains to make sure that everything was sealed off at the sides and all the air had to go through the intercooler and rad. When I rebuilt the...

I was going to suggest the same. You don't have the high airspeed to take advantage of ducting.

Interesting thread. Emilio advocates a full width undertray. I always ran this and thought that maybe it did help with both water and oil cooling as it channelled the air directly over the sump. I had my oil cooler blocked off even in the hottest weather and finally took it off.

In a piston engine about half the energy lost in heat (not including the exhaust) goes into the oil. So cooling the oil can have a significant effect on the overall engine temperature. However, cooling the oil too much will decrease the power. The optimum oil temperature is in the 100C - 110C range....

Spring Supplier

Found a good, ie. cheap, source of coil springs. Demon Tweaks in the UK. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/competition-springs/faulkners-race-springs A complete car set (4 springs) for my Lola is less than NZ$240 including freight. MX5 springs will be a bit dearer (larger dia) but still cheap...

I'm not sure whether you are asking about NA costs, but as a reference point, when we turbo'd my son's car last year we paid around $2000 to get 165rwhp. That cost covered TD04 turbo, exhaust manifold, downpipe and 2.5inch stainless exhaust system, injectors, intercooler and piping, pod inlet, BOV a...

Beyond MX5

As several of you know, after about 8 years of racing my MX5, I decided to try something different. Last year I bought a 1974 Lola Formula Ford as a winter project. It came as a bare chassis and boxes and boxes of bits. The only thing that was partially assembled was the transmission. Well, winter t...

I doubt that you would be able to get to 7000 with 200 bhp and 3.9. Top speed at Hampton and Taupo was slowe...

Unless they've changed the rules you shouldn't have any problem getting an authority card with a half cage and door bars. That's how mine was for years.
