Questions from a new owner

Welcome to the friendliest group car people around! The boot release lever I don't think was on the very early cars. My 1992 NA has one though (in the armrest along with the petrol cap release). Can't help with parts for you but what about the important stuff? What year? What colour? Just curious! G...

Travel to The Chateau 2007 event

When are people from south of The Chateau travelling for the event? Been checking the ferrys for those travelling from the South Island and some sailings are already fully booked for the Friday heading north and the Monday evening heading south. There are still suitable sailings though. As far as I ...

I agree that it would be unlikely but thought it might be worth checking.

synthetic oil - Castrol R ?

Mine (1998 NB) appears to have a problem as well. When going up a long steep hill quite slowly, the temperature gauge doesn't move from the normal condition, the radiator fan doesn't come on, but if I stop then it's obvious the water temperature has risen as it's gently boiling! Can't hear it from w...

Front Number Plate on NA

Yes it's illegal and you could get 'done' for having the stick on plate, especially if whoever pulls you up has had a bad day! More important though is the possibility of losing your insurance cover as the car is not in a legal warrantable condition. I know many people do have the stick on plates bu...

Replacement masts for many vehicles are around that price and often much
more. My Nissan Terrano mast cost $120.00!!

FOR SALE 1996 NA ROADSTER

Good luck with the sale.
I sold my Jensen Healey to go towards home ownership when I got married. It
only took 25 years to get another convertible, my first MX5! Hope it doesn't
take that long for you to return to the joys of top down motoring.

Door Speakers in the NB - 6x9'sAnyone upgraded? what to buy?

Does the plastic frame match the 5x7s to an 8" hole or is the door hole 5x7
as well? Just curious.
The Bose speakers fitted to the NB are actually 0.5 ohm impedance!

5x7? The Bose ones (in my NB) are round and definitely 8". Maybe the non
Bose ones are different?

Girls or hair dresers

There is a black NA here in Blenheim that belongs to a hairdresser according
to the advertising on the car. Male or female? I don't know as I have seen
both genders driving it. Most times a female driver though.

Rattling front brakes cured

The rear brakes on my NA and NB rattled after replacement pads were fitted. I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is a small spring that stops the rattle and this is often overlooked when pads are replaced. Performance isn't affected, they rattle though and it sure is annoying! Mine still ...

NB OEM stereo removal

The Bose one in my 1998 NB has Bose written on the head unit and on the door speaker covers. The amplifier is mounted on the transmission tunnel in front of the gear lever. I left the amp there when I replaced my Bose head unit as I couldn't be bothered removing it. Just unplugged it and used the sp...

Not one of our better days! A mad rush today to get my Isuzu Bighorn back on the road (only needs warrant and registration), remove the radio equipment from the Wizard and install it in the Bighorn. Got about 4 hours to do that then drive 8 hours (plus comfort stops) to rejoin the rally in Queenstow...

Which window?

I have had success with 'superglue' when temporarily repairing some rubber
seals. As long as the surfaces are very clean it will stick well. I assume
you are concerned with a side window seal.

Lasers sometimes can lose output. This normally shows up initially as a reluctance to read burned discs while still being able to accept pressed ones. A common cause of problems though is dirt on the lens. In a car, especially an open one there is a lot of dirt floating around! A cleaner disc won't ...

These are mounted vertically behind the seat so the Perspex slots into them. The top of ...
