What computer speakers did you use, Aaron? I have a number of different
types here (I run a computer service business from home), but before I start
removing speakers from their boxes to test, it's easier to ask someone who's
done it.

Road noise
Thnks for the info, Lou. The tyres on my 1992 MX5 are Kumho Power Racer II, (not a manufacturer that springs to my mind for these types of tyre) and about half worn. The bank balance means I will wait until replacement time and do some research then on tyres. I am not after very high performance as ...

Road noise
I'll attempt to photograph it (windblocker with a D!)and the installation brackets as soon as I get the chance. I need to slightly modify the mounting brackets, as it slightly interferes with the fitting of the roof cover, but you will see the idea. Unfortunately the weather turned cold and wet so t...

Road noise
Any body done any sound deadening work? I would like to reduce the road noise if possible. The road noise on coarse chip is quite high and drowns out the noises I would prefer to hear from the exhaust. On smooth black top, it's very acceptable. Just fitted a winblocker (made locally by a local glass...

Just about any approximately 165mm speakers will fit, although most have 4 mounting holes and the car has 3. I bought mine from Repco as they were open on a Sunday and I thought they were better than similarly priced oned from the warehouse. I paid about $70.00 for the pair. Obviously much better on...

Headrest speakers - getting 'em to work!
Well worth the effort, wasn't it? The connector strips are known by us here as chocolate block connectors. You can use a very small screwdriver to release the pins in the original plastic connector and then reinsert them in the correct position to fix the phasing of the speakers. Might have to bend ...

Electric window mod
Thought of those but the alarm uses a rolling code remote. The DSE units can't handle that. I believe the remotes for this alarm are available (with instructions on setting them up) for $70.00 each, including GST and freight. If so, I'll get a couple. Got to be cheaper and a lot easier than buying a...

Electric window mod
I finally got around to modifying the windows so they operate with the key off. I did this by cutting the wire from the window fuse from the fuse box inside the car. The wire was cut back from the fuse box and bullet connectors installed so it can be returned to normal if required. I added a fuse ho...

Flash to pass.
I added a 3amp diode from DSE to my MX5 at the weekend for the flash to pass
mod. Works well and very easy worthwhile mod.
Cost less than a dollar.
Still haven't modified the windows to work with the key off yet. Hope to do
that today.

Electric window relay?
Thanks for the information, Graeme. I assume this fuse feeds only the windows, so it shouldn't be too hard to re-route input to the fuse by removing it and connecting it to an always powered circuit. Might be a job for the weekend. I haven't inspected the fuse box on the drivers side...I didn't know...

Electric window relay?
Does anybody know if there is a relay that switches the power to the electric windows? I want to rewire the windows so I can operate them without the ignition being switched on. I've done this on my Isuzu Bighorn by simply removing the relay (that powered only the windows) and inserting a short wire...

Wiring Headrest speakers - (Was Re: Speakers)
Don't know what the impedance of the speakers is, but the DC resistance at the head unit connector was around 4ohms (with them paralleled) so decided to take the easy route and leave them that way. The wiring is fairly light as well, so I doubt you would get the impedance low enough to be a problem ...

I wired the speakers in the parallel mode. The stereo I now have installed is a Sony with 4 amplifier outputs. The colour code on my car wiring to the under seat connectors is now Red/blue and Red/yellow for the right speakers and Blue/red and Blue/white for the left channel. The speaker plug wiring...

I was intrigued to note that the headrest speakers in my MX5 appeared to be out of phase, creating a complete null in the sound right in the centre. After reading about this problem on the Miata site, I decided to check the wiring. I found that on both seats, not only were the speakers out of phase,...

Hi from Blenheim again. My '92 is an auto as I suffer from arthritis and, although I have no trouble with a manual at present the time will probably come when I can't use one again. Having only driven one other MX5 it's a bit hard to tell the difference but my auto performs near enough the same as m...

The List is Sooooo Quiet.
Hi all. Just joined the list today after purchasing my 1992 BRG V spec MX5 last weekend. It's definitely a top down day in Blenheim today, and as I work from home (my own boss) I get to use the MX5 for work as well as play. Much more fun then the Isuzu Bighorn it sits beside. Need 4WD for a lot of m...
