You must have tough bunch of clubs down in the South Island Gravelben. None of the NI clubs that I have raced with have had any issue with a soft top over a MSNZ approved roll bar. However, I can confirm that fitting a hardtop over a rollbar that happily cleared the softop can be a problem. I had to...

If you are planning to do Clubsport Basic events - motorkhana, autocross, single car sprint - you don't have to have a MSNZ approved roll bar/cage. If you want to do Advanced events - dual/multicar sprints, hill climb - you need a MSNZ homologated roll bar. If you are planning to do racing you only ...

What are your relative spring rates front to rear with the Tein springs? The standard NA springs are 164lb front, 97lb rear, ie. approx 5:3 ratio. I uprated my springs to 400lb front, 300lb rear, ie 4:3 ratio, with the same Whiteline bars as PLSEME, and it oversteered like a pig. I've taken off the ...

The free spring lengths of the standard NA springs are:
Front - 282mm to 302mm depending on whether your car is a manual or automatic and what year it is.
Rear - 340mm to 356mm.

The lowered stiffer King springs are around 245mm for the fronts (don't know the rears.

Neither the Batmobile or RX8 diffs will fit an MX5 easily as they are a completely different shape without the wings. For your power the turbo RX7 series 4/5 might be an option. With an 8" ring gear and large dia axle shafts it will certain take a lot more torque than any other Mazda diff, although ...

Be carefull of the extra costs to land this kit in NZ. My Goodwin kit, same as this but 4 pot, cost around USD1500, but landed here with freight and GST was about NZD3,300. It's a heavy box so freight is expensive. However it was still cheaper that I had been quoted locally and better rotor material...

Yes, the BMC and pedal box are standard. The rotors and hats came as part of the kit from Goodwin Racing - 11" front rotors, 10.75" rear rotors and Wilwood 4 pots for the front. Am still using the standard 1.6 rear calipers and the brake balance is perfect, no need for a bias valve. The whole front ...

If you are going with 4 pots you need 1 and 3/8 inch pistons. I have this setup on my race car and they are fantastic. The car stops from 230km/h into the hairpin at Pukekohe from 80m. However, unless you are going to use the car for serious racing with big power I wouldn't bother with the big rotor...

A restrictive AFM isn't likely to cause a hesitation under acceleration, it'll limit top end revs (which is where the RX7 AFM is better). I'm not sure that putting the AFM between the TC and IC is a good idea. The turbo flow output will lag the inlet airflow. So you have effectively got a closed loo...

There is a plug into an oil gallery at the back of the block by the dipstick. I made up a fitting to go in here as it's close to the turbo. I've got a few fittings that might do for the sump return. I'll check tonight. Is the engine in the car yet as it's a fiddly job drilling and tapping the sump i...

Coil on Plug System

Has anyone tried a Coil on Plug system on their NA1600? I have fitted a set of Toyota COPs and used the instructions on the Miataturbo forum. However, the tacho doesn't work now, and there is a hint of a misfire. From the very long thread (64 pages) on the forum, it looks like aftermarket ECUs (I've...

It's part of the emissions control system. Catches fuel vapour.
As NZ isn't hot on requiring original emissions equipment to be retained you could remove it without any problem. I did on my racecar while it was still road legal and never had any problems with WOFs.

I've had two types of Racepro and a Momo in my racecar. Both the Racepros, an Arrow 101 and a Tarmac, fitted straight on the existing rails. However, they aren't particularly low.
