you can get the haartz tops on ebay for as little as $275 shipped to nz but that doesnt include the rain rail or tensioner wires. so youd need to check yours before ordering.

theres another down on the crank nose ...might only be on the vvti engines. your symptoms certainly screamed CAS once the basics were done.

not sure if yours has the single wire crank sensor down the front bottom of the engine but the later ones that have it often fail where the loom is held to the block by a P clip causing erratic issues. the wire breaks inside the sheath at the p clip... also the sensor needs to be gapped properly to ...

90% of the time when a mechanic says the ECU is faulty .....it's not. and you need to find another mechanic! i dont think ive ever heard of an MX5 ecu fail in NZ. replace plugs replace leads reterminate ALL earths ECU earth Coil earth block and chassis earths. borrow a CAS and try that. borrow some ...

The most common problem with nbs is the cas +crank sensor on the front. if i was doing parts swapping. id start with those

na strutts wont fit NB mounts witout a special nut. the NB strutts have a longer threaded section than the NA. NA strutts dont poke through enough to get the nut on. the only way to make them fit is to use a custom nut that drops down inside the NB mount. the NB mount needs to be drilled to suit. so...

I wouldn't trust a used one. they fail all the time. you can buy the part from Mazda or drill and tap a fitting in. I have no idea how easy it is to get the old tee out and fit another Mazda one. but the drill tap method will work and hold.

buy a 1/8" bspt tap. drill the old one out and tap for a new hose fitting in there.....easy. i use loctite 3805 to seal up stuff like that. best stuff ever.
