If the reversing lights haven't been working then that is probably where the fault originated. Unlike other lights in the car, reversing lights are permanently connected to positive, and the circuit is switched by connecting the circuit to earth, which is negative. That switch is in the gearbox. I'd...

Put some new mirrors on in the weekend. Bought these from Ebay for half the price they are on Trademe. Surprisingly little metalwork needed to fit them. These are way better than the out-on-an-arm "racing" mirrors you can get. Rock solid, convex glass, and you don't even notice the window frame, you...

More time consuming than difficult. I still have some tidying up to do, the front bumper needs to be aligned prop...

Ghetto NA tophat tweak

Pulled all the tophats out of my NA and 're-engineered' them for a bit of lowering without losing shock travel. The mod drops about 25-30mm (still settling so I can't be sure, but that's what the theoretical calcs give me), while lifting the shock mount . No discernable extra NVH, in fact the ride s...

I'd go for the RS, assuming a test drive doesn't show anything. Best resale by far when you take into account the points Slydit made and the auto box on the green one. We have an NA1600 5 sp and an NB1800RS 6 sp. and we love both of them. The 6 sp is great for open road touring. Oh and as Mr Grey sa...

Had a new set of RE003 fitted yesterday. $635 for the four. Noticeably lighter on the turn in but that can't really be objectified because I had an alignment done at he same time.

Cheap BRG/Tan NA in Timaru I've been driving past an NA for sale for the last few days and stopped to take a look today. 1991 BRG, body looks ok but paint is pretty tired, might come back with a good cut though. Tan leather/Nardi interior. Standard daisy wheels. Anyway, the guy's asking $2200 which ...

Put the rear up on axle stands and run it in gear. You'll be able to see any wheel wobble easily. If need be I have a set of wheels and tyres you can try out too, if you want to drive down to Fairlie.

What a cheap crappy switch though. Going retro toggle switches some time in the future.

Funny, I had exactly the same problem pop up over Christmas, one day ran fine, next day 2-3 cylinders and backfiring. I hadn't washed it though. It turned out to be failed plugs, which was a relief, because I was suspecting a coil pack.

I've never known plugs to fail overnight like that though.

Started putting in the Recaro fishnets I gave the other half for Christmas. Super super low and way more comfortable.

Turns out he got it spinning on slimy stones, then stamped his left foot on the brake while keeping power on.

Of course it would help if Suzuki didn't make diff housings out of recycled beer cans.

There's an open diff and an OPENED diff

Pulled a workmate out of a riverbed this afternoon, he said it just went clunk and stopped. Anyone want to buy a cheap Vitara? In it's life it's been rolled, new back axle, cracked head, stuffed gearbox, now the front diff. Be glad to see the last of this one... http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad...

Pretty sure Xylene isn't on the restricted list. It is freely available in the form of paint thinners after all.

Ether on the other hand, good luck buying that!

If you're going to go that way, can you buy Xylene by the drum? You shouldn't have to play round with your fuel map that way, stoich should be the same as pump gas at reasonable blends.

We live in Kimbell, just outside Fairlie.

It does. Looks more like mid to late 80s.

Still pretty sure I've seen them on an import car, because it struck me as incongruous to have French writing on a Japanese car.

I think I've seen them on hondas. The writing should start with the 29, ie 29e victoire aux 24 heures du mans.

As it tuns out honda won the 29th Le Mans for bikes in 2006 (29eme is french for 29th)
