Yeah we've had 3 na's and an nc. I'm back with an NA. The nc is a great car, but doesn't have the fun that the NA has, too refined for my tastes, handles superbly and feels safer. Would own again no problem.

So today was eventful. Got a Hardtop of trade me and a new intake. Now just to wait for the seller to send me pickup details and then I get to take a fat wad of dosh to exchange for the hardtop. Oh and hopefully 2 cans of plastidip should be enough to paint the hardtop. P.S Sorry if it was a forum ...

sorry about the embarrasingly bad photos! Anyway, to summarise. 1/ Minimal prep, I just gave the dash a good wipe over with wax and grease remover (available at all good paint supplies shops....) 2/ Minimal masking. I got overspray on the window and on the crashpad, just wiped it off with wax and gr...

BGNZ...I too would be interested in the plasti dip application. Pics would be awesome. Im sure most would like to see them also. Good luck with it. No worries, the deed is done but the photos turned out shaky and rubbishy for some reason, seems to be since I updated the app over the weekend :( - su...

Yay its the weekend for me. Being old, I only work 4 day weeks. At least I don't dress funny and smell of wee - most days. Finally threw out my original shagpile shit brown v-special mats today, after cleaning the carpet last weekend it just didn't seem right to have those horrible things anywhere n...

Spent most of the day spring cleaning interior of the car. Stripped the carpet out and gave it a scrubbing with carpet shampoo followed by a jet blasting. Cleaned up the tan trim bits and spray dyed a few bits black, buffed up stainless sills. Fitted new/2nd hand heater controls so I can finally swi...

Yeah I've not really checked the mx5 cables before, but I know the MR2 has a 3 piece affair, with one cable going most of the way then a bracket thing and 2 small ones going off it. Like a Y and what happens with too much regularity, one of the legs to the wheels siezes, so your handbrake works pret...

Ah sorry I read the new bit as them being new...
I've had problems with cables before (on mr2's), the grease dries out after a good few years. Might be worth taking the off and checking they're free, then either lube or replace?

Not much left really!

I did my rear pads a few weeks back and it took about a day or two for the handbrake to settle in, as long as your warrant isn't due now I can't see it being a problem? And yes the adjusters do come right out, but I put mine back in with no issues. I think it just needs to settle in and self adjust ...

finally got around to it today, had a few busy weeks... so rears are in (fronts probably tomorrow) and they are definitely lower but its more that they have less mileage on them than my old ones ;) and they're the sports bilsteins. Probably 15-20 mm lower with my sophisticated fist-o-meter between t...

Presuming your heater core is functioning as it should, you need to check those cables on the flaps. There are 3 cables in total. The one controlling the heat is on the drivers side. You need to remove the lower trim, where your knees go, 2 screws I think and it's off? Feel up on the left side and y...

Re: I spose I should reintroduce myself...

Loved the NC but for me it was not an MX5 - it felt like a 'proper' car i.e. safe with air bags and shit. Made me laugh. Yeah it just was though, getting the back end out was such a mission!!! I like my 5's a bit rough and ready, but that car was like a real car with nice plastic and leather lol......

I spose I should reintroduce myself...

Long time owner of MX5's. Well got my first 13 years ago, 89 with a wobbly nose. When I moved to nz from dear old shoddy england, I met my missus. She had a 94 1800 and I got to drive it around for a couple of weeks. Yeah I was hooked. So it was a toss up between the 89 or an MGB Tin top. Ended up w...

dude you need to hit up mx5mart, they do them. I've only had it once in my first 89 na and it was cured by a combination of the lower braces and the seatbelt tower brace. Did them all at once so can't say which was the one that actually did it. Helped keep it stable when doing 180Km/h on the racetra...

Mmmm sexy wheels indeed!!! Got my first seat in today, passenger side. I think slightly lower seat height, but higher back. Also it can't go as far back as standard seat due to rubbing against rear quarter trim panel (around the seatbelt tower). Thinking of chopping that out if its annoying. Took ab...

There's not much strength in any factory seat when you think about it, in a roll you're relying that 4 12mm bolts don't give, or the reclining mechanism doesn't break, reality is that the headrest will fold on you more often than not. Do a search for rolled mx5's on google... Only a proper roll bar/...
