A fastback would be nice but there are the boot issues which makes it quite a bit more complicated.
I really like this one

Thanks for the pics Mr Grey. Another point, do you guys think if I make the mounting totally bolt-on, no frankinstein bolts or buckles at the front, would it be alright to have only the four mounting points? (the two at the front and the rear two?) This would mean that no extra mazda hardware would ...

That glass nb rear window would probably work but I'd like to use new parts if possible because I might sell a few to friends to try and cover my costs, and 2nd hand ones might not be available. Or are new ones available? Would a cop disapprove of lexan if it looked like glass? (no rivets etc) That ...

Hey that's right, they cant fail it if it's not there.. I suppose the reason they need a cert for Lexan is because most cars use the windscreen as a structural support/brace. Surely on a convertible it wouldn't matter? That NC hardtop looks awesome! And the rear window is quite flat too. Might be ab...

Custom hardtop project
Hi, It's that time of year again and I'm thinking of building a hardtop. I'm need to find a rear windscreen and window seals. The seals are about $150 per side from Mazda I think. A bit steep. I suspect the rear window will be also quite expensive. Does anyone here have an Rx7 to measure? I was thin...

Someone dropped a rock on the motorway.
Grrr! Going to work today on SH20 there was a whole lot of rocks/dirt on the motorway. I thought it was a bit of fluff and drove over it, bashed up the bottom of my MX5. Now the mudguard is dangling by one screw.
I'll check for more damage tomorrow.
Anybody else run over it?

Where is the crossover for tweeters located? 2nd Gen
Hi, My '98 mx5 has the stock split speakers which sound very good exept that the tweeters are way too loud. As a hifi semi enthusiast, I find this disturbing.(have to turn the treble down which stuffs up the frequency response) I want to put an attenuator circuit in but dont know where the crossover...

Yeah that coupe/fastback hardtop is awesome! I want to make one now. Just have to figure out how to make the boot work properly. It could also be made to contribute to the torsional rigidity as well. Dya reckon you would need a LVVT cert for a mod like that? Esp. if you made it removable. Another th...

What to put on soft top to preserve it
Hi,
I was wondering if those anti UV plastic/rubber preserving sprays are any good for extending the life of the soft tops?
Is there some particular stuff to put on them?
Cheers.

Just got mine
Just got a 98' 1.8 gold manual MX5. I'm very happy with it, the handling is just insane! The reviews didnt lie.
Its just right for the windy roads that live on.
I might get some pics up.
