best place to get one is actually: http://m.miataturbo.net/showthread.php?t=14598 Braineack is the man, $590 USD is not bad with shipping of say $20 USD it works out about $760 NZD landed! I'm still in two minds at the mo, I will probably just get Braineacks one as he gives good backup too, even if ...

Yeah, didn't look that flash and for $2800 I reckon you can do a lot!
I might use them for supplying a Megasquirt though, seems quite reasonable.
But a self made turbo kit including MS could be had for considerably less!

Caterham has some roller barrel throttles that liberate a ton of power along with headwork and cams. 270hp NA!

2.3 Duratec would be the go from the Mazda 3's/6's.
Same motor as in the Caterham 7's makes big horsepower with not a lot of work, not exactly cheap to buy though so just stick with FI

you can make up a cheap kit from commercial superchargers (old toyotas etc) for a similar cost to a cheap turbo setup. 150-160hp.
For big power it will cost more and they take power from the motor which is the downside.

yeah it is, similar to turbocharging in terms of costs.
harder to accomodate than a turbo as they tend to be larger!

as with any motor, you do the work, spend the money, you reap the benefits. An N/A 1.8-2 Litre could easily put out 200+hp with the right work and $$, more if you're willing to have a non streetable motor. The 3sge is a great motor for tweaking power from as it has such a good racing background and ...

if it was a modern powerful diesel then it would be pretty quick! but otherwise not worth the effort! There is a Jag E-Type that was at the local mechanics opposite my work with a Nissan Patrol diesel engine in it! Sacrilege in my mind but the owner owns diesel and turbo in Hamilton so I suppose its...

I'd go for something better, like a Honda F20C from a S2000!
Or perhaps a 2 litre Alfa motor on twin sidedraughts ;)

It goes most of the way back, not quite fully back.
The bottom of the bars is chamfered to get it as far back as possible.

can't see it being too hard. Plenty of people fit them into Lotus 7's and RWD Starlets etc. Question is, why bother when turbo charging can be done pretty cheaply. A stock 1.6 with a turbo kit from Begi in the US ($2.5k ish landed NZD) would yield around 150 RWHP! Thats easier and cheaper than an en...

thanks guys.
The height is about 50mm higher than my head height. So I should still be able to wear a helmet without sticking above it.
Took me a little longer than expected, especially with the rain over the weekend!
Just need to remove the ac and power steering now!

Well finally got around to welding up the rollbar. I decided to paint it for now as it means I could have it installed this weekend. Used 2 pack primer and some satin black for the top coat. Not so sure I'd want to get it out again anytime soon! Came out pretty good I feel and will give added protec...

I could easily make it lower to suit.
Once I've got this one made, a jig can be knocked up to match then its just a case of height adjustment to suit :)

well you never know, once I work out all the costings I might be able to offer them for sale, I'll just make a jig of this one.
Possibly around the $500 mark but I will have to look into it.
Powdercoating could be in various colours to suit?
Considerably better than a style bar!

torque is a lot higher than a type r integra!
Its not all about horsepower, a smooth torquey tractable engine is a lot less work to drive fast!
Although I do love a type R on full song!

15" lightweight rims/tyres - Saving of 12kg! You may find you'll be hard pressed to find much weight saving from factory rims, and even many aftermarket "lightweight" wheels will be heavier than the factory offerings! A very tidy-looking car in all :) By saving I meant savings from the 17's that we...

My 91 NA

I thought I'd post a little bit of a write up on my NA. I've been through a few cars over the years, all modified in some form or other. I recently bought an MX5 after selling my 300+hp WRX and using the money to fund it and a project bike. It was a shock to the system as I was so used to the power ...
