A bit of a thread-revive sorry. I have a miataLink but no handcontrolller. I can connect/log using the 'Data Log Lab' program and the engine runs. I also have the 'PCLink' software (v2.5) and a serial to USB cable through virtual COM port 4 but can't seem to connect to the ECU. In the Tuning instruc...

I guess it's rare as, unlike the NA/NB, there was the option of the retractable hardtop so people that wanted a hard roof simply got that model, people that didn't got the softtop and only a small number of people who wanted both purchased a hardtop.

I've installed 3 Track Day rollbars from Dons Autoway services in Hamilton, the last was about 8 months ago so I'm sure they are still making them. They bolt in behind the seats, don't need a cert and are suitable for 'Play day' events (See the install thread I made here: http://www.mx5forum.co.nz/v...

Subaru hubs are either 5 X 100 or 5 X 114.3 PCD so they won't fit that way. You haven't indicated what offset they are but a 17 X 9 wheel is likely too big and will lead to rubbing unless you modify the guards. 17" is, for most practical reasons, too big a rim for a NA MX5, 16" is about as large as ...

You'd be surprised at how much difference good tyres at the correct pressures will do to your handling. Cheap tyres or tyres at too low a pressure have a lot of flex in the sidewall which feels like sloppy suspension. So, I'd recommend getting those new tyres on before splashing out on bracing.

It's spring! Time for a meet n drive! (Auckland)

Guys and Girls, the weather is finally sorting it's sh*t out so dust off those softops and let's go for a drive somewhere! I propose Sunday the 6th November as a date, meeting at BP/McDonalds Papakura (on the Southern Motorway) at 10am. The drive should only take an hour or so (the loop basically go...

Unfortunately the smaller pulley is off the cards due to the design of the supercharger- The snout casting extends under the pulley which prevents a smaller diameter (well, you may be able to reduce it 2mm or so)....and increasing the crank pulley diameter doesn't seem to feasible either as the belt...

Thanks guys, Yep there's already a massive intercooler so its set up to handle a heap more boost than it has. I'm actually scratching my head a bit as to why it doesn't generate more than 5psi as it is running the larger crank pulley (which should bump it up to ~7psi). Would pressure drop through th...

Yeah I'm definitely leaning towards engine management (i.e. getting what I have running better).

Jared- I have a question about the trigger wheel that you use on your MS installs. Where does it actually fit? I have a crank pulley overlay which drives the supercharger, would that interfere?

Hi guys, It'd be great to get your input Currently I have a NA, originally a NA6 but has a 1800 engine, early 'Sebring' M45 supercharger and torsen rear. Big intercooler and oil cooler. So, its got a lot of hardware to support decent power but the supercharger is only putting out 5psi...at a guess 1...

Drove the Nurburgring!

I recently got back from a Europe adventure and as part of that, drove the Nurburgring. Scary, but fun....it's way steeper than it appears in video/Gran Turismo and the track was still a little damp in places so wasn't pushing too hard.

Latest drama: Diff has blown and I can put my hand on my heart and say I haven't been driving it hard! So, what are my options: 1) Replace with an open diff until I decide what to do (i.e. try and source 1.8 diff, prop and halfshafts) 2) Replace with another VLSD...and hope that doesn't pop. 3) Orde...
