The Facebook sites certainly have a lot of chat, and do have some good people on with good info, but I must admit that the information here is too valuable to lose. I wish I had the knowledge to help you zorruno, unfortunately I don't. I believe there is still a place for forums like this, as I find...

I finally got round to having Ben's frame rails put on the car a few weeks ago. Yes, it has made a difference. Yes, it is better. The car feels a lot more 'together', with less flex. Definitely worth it. Thanks Ben.

He said much the same to me when I saw him, but I've heard his work is good, and I'm keen on keeping it as original as possible, if possible. I may be pestering him soon.

Eunos Roadster VR-A seats

As you will see in the picture, my 96 VR-A seats need to be fixed. What I was wondering was whether anyone has brought in replacement seat covers from USA or elsewhere and, if so, were they any good? Also, are these the same seats as in NZ-new MX5s and USA-new Miatas? If no experience with replaceme...

Thanks for your help guys. I've got in touch with Ben and I'm now looking forward to getting a set off him. Can't wait to install them, although I will have to wait for at least a couple of months due to other things I want to do to it, dang it.

Frame rails

Hi guys I'm looking at getting some frame rails to help improve the feel of my 96 Roadster, and wondered on costs of getting them done here. Saw Redben does some but can't seem to get in touch. Does anyone have any photos of rails they have installed, or any recommendations. have got a quote of $150...

Seat repairs

Hi guys, I'm in Pukekohe and wanting to get an auto upholsterer to look at the driver's seat as it needs some repairs. Does anyone out there have any recommendations for businesses to contact? Or people to avoid if you have had a bad experience? Happy to possibly use anyone in the Auckland/Hamilton ...

Hot pools on the way to Tauranga might be Okoroire Hot Springs. Alfa Romeo Owners Club used to go there every year during the 90's (showing my age), but I never went myself.

I have the same cup holder as Broomfish. Great while on the motorway, but the moment you need to change gear you start looking like your left hand is deformed.

Interesting rain rails (?) on MrGrey's hardtop to stop the flood on your legs when you open the door. Where did you get them?

Thanks for all the advice so far. I’ve been to the local SupercheapAuto, Repco and Warehouse to see what is around, but no sign of Redline. Where can you find this usually? I have seen the Castrol VMX80W (apparently newer version of VMX80?), but has anyone used this in their MX5 gearbox? For the eng...

Hi guys. I know that a spanner day won't be happening anytime soon due to facility availability, but I need to have a go at doing oil & filter change, as well as changing the gearbox oil sometime soon. Just asking for a bit of advice. Regarding both oil changes, what are your recommendations for bra...

Hi guys, just seen the postponement. :( But never mind, it can't be helped. I still really appreciate that you guys would be prepared to help a mechanical retard such as myself. I'll try to keep track of when it is happening. Best wishes to all.

yes please

Hi Guys, I'd be ultra keen for someone to help me. It needs a few things like basic oil and filter change, gearbox oil change & doing the top seal and gaiter, and I have a set of Tein springs I'd like to try in the car as well. More than happy to buy some beers and lunch for you or whatever. I'm in ...

Appreciate the offer Donovan, but I'm at Hampton Downs Fri, Sat, Sun both this weekend and next. (Grid marshal for the classic racing :) ) I still have to work out when I'm going to be able to do it. Hopefully sometime in the next three weeks. Thanks again for the offer.

hardtop woes

Just a thought. El cheapo flight to Dunedin or Chch, rent an Estima (or borrow if friends down there), drive back to Chch with hardtop inside, give to Brownie to get sorted, then get cheapo flight back home. Maybe too much trouble, but worth a thought.

installing

Thanks for the advice guys. I've gone with the Tein springs (thanks Furai) but of course now I have to install them. Went to local Pitstop and they reckon on approx. 3hours work, $75/hour plus gst. Does this sound about right? Anyone know of someone cheaper and reliable? Cheers.
