Parts from Mazline for sale

I would be interested to know how many of the posts that are on this forum are from financial members of the MX5 club because unless you are fully financial you don't really have the right to comment. This forum is administered by Zorruno in his own time and is for club members. If you haven't alrea...

number plate

I think you will find that the Registrar has NOT Approved stick on plates which are still illegal and you can be fined $250. This is to stop more than one vehicle having the same number plate. NC Head unit options

Check out trademe 466353907 I put one of these in my 2006 nc with Bose and it is great. You can control either from iPhone/iPod or controls on steering wheel. Very easy to fit and select by pushing the CD twice. Sent from my iPad On Apr 17, 2012, at 8:08 PM, "rincewind" <electrical@mx5forum.co.nz> w...

tonneau and hardtop

Hi john, no you can not have the tonneau(boot cover) in place and put the hardtop on as well. The cover clips into to channel that the hardtop seals onto. -----Original Message----- From: johngalt [mailto:mx5talk@mx5forum.co.nz] Sent: Friday, 2 April 2010 6:39 p.m. To: mx5talk@mx5forum.co.nz Subject...

hard top for series 2.... where to get them??

Any hardtop from 1989 to 2004 ie series I through series II will fit, You do not need to locate just a series II. The only difference is that some have linning and heated rear windows. I have had hardtops with out the heated hardtop and not problem with misting up - just put the blower on! From: Ian...

Series I (NA) 1989 to 1997, Series II (NB) 1998 to 2005 (facelift model from
2001 known as series 2.5), Series III (NC) 2005 till now. No such thing as a
series I NB.

Hi Colson, good luck in purchasing your new toy. As the car you are looking at is an 1800 with 6 spd, BRG with Tan interior it would appear that it is a series II, import VR model. Have a look underneath at the shock and you will probably find that they are Bilstein Gas shocks. There was no series I...

Ruined spring tabs - can't get Bose head unit out!

The head unit can be a bit tricky to get the springs to release, took me
quite awhile to get it right. The other option is to install the expander at
the aerial end in the boot.

This topic comes up regularly. In short, the Ferrari owner can maybe afford the $250 instant fine more than you can, it is illegal not to display the regulation two plates on your car. Seems to be localized as to whether the boys in blue will stop you or not but could be a very expensive experiment....

Replacing Bose head unit

The Bose amp needs to be powered up to work. There is a small wire (white/green from memory) that needs 12v. The wire is part of the wiring loom that went into the factory head unit so have a look for the wire that is not being used. When I did mine, I used the external power amp wire from the head ...

Cambelt for 2004 Jap Import

Hi Alisam, great choice to purchase an MX5 for the wife, you will never regret it. I had a 1990 that I spent months saying “Must do the cambelt” and when it went while driving on the Auckland motorway (had done 130km) I said a little more than DAMN. The $150 it cost to get transported home would hav...

FAQ: Has my NA (Series 1) got a 1600 or 1800 engine?

Question: "How do you tell which car has a 1600 engine and which has an 1800 engine?" There are several ways to tell at a glance. This applies to the NA (or series I with pop up headlights) only. The Series II and onwards has many variations and are a little more difficult to tell apart at a glance...

FAQ: MX5/Eunos Roadster/NA/NB/MKI.... MX5 Models for Newbies

"Is it an NC, NA, NB, Series I, Series II, Series III, NA6, NB8, Eunos Roadster, Miata or MX5?. A Japanese import or NZ new?" I can still remember my first few club outings when everyone else seemed to be speaking this strange language and now I find myself doing the same and have realised that the...

Coolant Leak - in one of those - hard to reach places

Hi Biff, I had the same problem a few years ago when on the Snowball run. Bought a tube of Steel Kneedit from service station and put it around the pipe. Worked a treat, no more leaks. Did eventually get the pipe replaced by Don at Autoways in Hamilton.

Do MX5's have a low fuel warning light?

Mu 2003 NZ new has a fuel warning light – found out when I went to use it after Sally had been driving it – “where is the fuel cap?”

I would never want to rely on it though.

All very interesting, what about full fuel tank verse empty!!! Would that not make as much difference as divorcing the wife and getting a girl friend. I find that the longer I drive, the less fuel I have in the tank, so unless you stop at every petrol station to keep the tank at the same level, your...

Several years ago when I was using my MX5 as my daily drive car in Hamilton, I always had it parked outside my window at work where I could see it. You may want to give Don at Autoway Services in Hamilton ph 07 847 5484 a ring as I know he did a lot of work on it for Matt trying to get it to run ok.
