Re: Anyone in wellington do Engine replacements?

I don't know anyone in Wellington, but they are fairly simple to do if you have a garage/workshop.
I have done 6 now. The longest part is undoing all of the sensors! I would pull the motor and box out as one unit instead of separating while still in the car.

I thought these came out on the MK2. I think there is a set for sale on Facebook (MX5 group separate to this forum).

Re: 1997 Eunos SR Edition

OT: Interested on how you can check the VIN number to see when the MX5's were built etc.
I have an early 1989 and have tried to followed other leads regarding how to read to the (NZ) VIN number but nothing really matches up.

Re: Trailer

Does anyone have a trailer suitable for an MX5 (or a Formula Ford) that they are not using over the weekend of 8-11 January 2016? We want to take two cars to the Tasman Revival meeting in Taupo, but only have one trailer at the moment. Compensation to be negotiated. I'm currently rebuilding/refurbi...

New Alarm advice

The alarm in my car is around 20 years old and now has stopped working, so its time for a new one. (The car is an NA) What I want is the usual alarm features (Immobilizer etc.) but now want to add GPS. The alarm I have also chirps 4 times if someone walks close to it (A feature I want to keep), and ...

Ha! I sent this to a work colleague yesterday that used to race this sort of stuff.
He said some guys pay up to around $400 for a competition motor that only get used once or twice then discarded.
The motors can do up to 250,000 revs!

I would think that the rotating mass on that small diameter wouldn't be enough the transmit the vibrations through the chassis.
Do you run aftermarket wheels? If so, do you run hub rings?
You can buy cheap plastic ones, but I would go with the aluminium ones instead (Or machine some up like I did).

And this is why it puts people like me off to get the car going again to go motor racing. Even if you do most of the work yourself, the cost to run the car is astronomical!! It was only about 10 years ago when it would cost me $250 for a weekend (If nothing broke). That would be entry fees, race fue...
