I follow a bunch of forums and the FB page. I tend not to get involved in the FB one apart from using the Buy/sell (as the audience tends to be bigger and it's local). In terms of information/discussion quality the FB page severely lacks behind the US forums (miataturbo.net & miata.net etc) so tend ...

6'3" here - it's definitely doable both as a street car and for motorsport use.

Things that will help make it more livable:
- foamectomy for street seats or lower fixed back seats
- smaller steering wheel
- removing the centre console makes the interior roomier

A what now?

Short answer: no, nothing about those will fit an mx5. Wrong tyre diameter (too large), wrong pcd/stud pattern.

Also, if you can't see any leaks / damage / oil coming from the bilsteins they're probably fine - they're pretty durable.

What do you plan to do with the car? Is it going to be used only on the street? Dual duty street & Motorsport events? Trailered Race car? Personally I'd skip the bracing (very little benefit/potentially negative with the added weight) and get some good matching tires and an alignment to start with. ...

While the garage does have some advantages (provides a good overview/summary at a glance) on balance I think build threads actually work better on car forums as they give a sense of progression and include discussion and problem solving (esp. in the local context). Moving to PHPBBv3 and a dedicated...

Nice :D Was wondering about the tyres as there's a few new options in the US (Rival-s & RE71R) that would be well suited hillclimb type events on tarmac we have here and are apparently faster than the NT01. I've got a set of the rival-s's that i'm waiting to try out at an autocross/hill climb but ha...

I'd get the RE003's - the price difference isn't that much last time I got a quote and they're a better tyre. Won't be RE11 good but will be noticeably better than the MY02's.

Bridgestone regularly do a buy 3 get one free deal too which is probably worth waiting for.

get the Jass performance ones (http://shop.jassperformance.com/) if you do. Best ones available IMO. I tried the rennenmetal ones before but the fit wasn't as good (and they're uglier).

I've been trying to sort out tyre options for some upcoming autocrosses- is it really true that an EHP 205/50 tyre (like say the AD08R) won't pass a wof/cert on a 8" wheel? Will tyre places mount them? That tyre has a 8.4" section width, so it's not like it's going to look stretched on a 15x8 wheel....

Schroth Profi II ASM FE + anti sub belts.

Plan on using it as 4pt for the street (ASM = anti-submarining, so hopefully reasonably safe) and as a 6pt for events/track.

One thing to watch out for, even with the most waterproof expensive ones is they're not usually designed for long term use in wet weather - they need to be removed so the car and cover can air/dry after they've been in the rain. Otherwise you'll just be trapping water/moisture under them The tempora...

Nice! Any pics of the finished cage? What are you doing for seats/harnesses?

I'm looking at getting that stuff done in the next month or two as well.
