I agree with the niggles and I agree strongly about the winding roads, it is a great car round a corner, but I found it was just too much of a "car" and not enough of a "sports car"

And why does a two seat car need four cup holders?

Tail Lights

Driving on to the Fanshawe St run on tonight, I was next to a lovely MX5 registered 2LOW2C, quite highly modified and a really nice job. I noticed the tail lights which were of a type I had not seen, with frames around the individual lights, looked neat. Anyone know who owns it or where the lights c...

6.5 inch Sony Xplods fit directly on the holes, you can get them cheaply from
the Sony factory shop in Nugent St Khyber Pass in Auckland, great!

Plastic Cleaner

Following on from Simon's extensive dissertation on the matter, I gave PURLEE a bit of a birthday today and decided to pop down to Repco to see if I could improve the look of the plastic rear window in the new hood, which was still greasy and streaky from being handled when it was installed. I found...

Fair enough Dave, I am not a rabid proponent of the auto, although all of my cars just happen to be auto at the moment, just making the point that you should not write the car off simply because it is auto, unless you intend to use it in a more than averagely sporting manner. I use the gearbox in my...

Looking for your opinions

I have this discussion annually with AA regarding my pristine 1990 Mazda 626.

We normally finish up with a compromise somewhat above their estimate and
below my value. It is an "agreed" value, so they should negotiate. Talk to
them

No Dave,

I stand by my original comment. If you are out on a track you are quite
correct, you would lose ultimate performance, but in terms of what you can
use, on the public roads, it is very similar, you simply have to push the
auto a little harder.

Yes, this was my experience of the NC as well. If I were buying one, I think
the auto with paddles would be more fun

Mothers Preserves Protectant, fantastic product!

They also do a soft top cleaner which works well if it is really grubby.

Both available from Repco

1996 1800 AUTOMATIC

My 94 1800 is auto. I personally would have preferred a manual, but I am not the only one making the decision! As a commuter the auto is fine, in Auckland traffic way better than a manual, but it needs work to make it sit up and pay attention if you want to drive quickly. I find that driving the gea...

Fly Buys

Whilst Bill has his own unique way of expressing things, he has been good enough to forward to me the letter he received from Shell, and I can see what got his dander up. At a time when, despite what they tell us, oil companies are making record profits, the proposal is that, rather than get a point...

Bill, I hope you will accept that I did not see the information which Shell provided and which you apparently forwarded to the list. It has not appeared on any email which I have received. I am aware that Shell, some time ago, changed their rules so that when petrol was bought on a Fleet Card or com...

Alarm

Hi Pam, Congratulations on displaying wonderful taste in cars! Your alarm will not be a standard fitting, alarms were not factory fitted to the MX5, but most common brands of alarm are well represented around NZ. Try your local Yellow Pages under "Security" "Burglar Alarms" or Car Audio and you will...

Are we already being censored?

I was going to reply directly to zorruno on this, but since the time that I received his email I have been busy and there has been a bit of traffic on the subject, so I may as well share my thoughts with the list. I do not think there is anyone on the list who does not think that zorruno does a bril...

I have received an "Off List reply from zorruno regarding this matter. I am more than satisfied with what he told me. As the reply was "off List" and discussed other matters, I do not feel able to post his reply, however there was, in fact in the body of zorrunos original post, a phrase which the fi...

Are we already being censored?

Look, this is not something that I wish to really buy into, but since the subject has been raised by Glenn, I sent the following message to the list on Thursday evening, nearly 48 hours ago. It is contentious, however it contains nothing that filters should block. Thus far it has not appeared on the...

I have to say that, whilst discussion on this topic is apparently not welcome, this idea disturbs me greatly.
