Re: New to MX 5

I'd also recommend the NC Facebook page, lot's of helpful people there but not many kiwis so you won't find that much NZ specific help. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ncmiata I personally have a NC with the non folding removable hard top. As far as I know there aren't too many issues with the foldi...

This is pretty normal for MX5mart, they can be very hard to get hold of.

Re: Any turbo or supercharged NC in NZ

Thanks for your reply Frank. It's very tempting but it's a lot of money to put in to a car that only cost me just over $10k to buy. For now I'm happy with the power of the NC. It's a nice bump up from the 1.8 NA, especially low to mid range torque. The 'more power' bug will definitely bite at some s...

Re: A bit more acceleration.

I also own a 2005 NC. Mine has Maxim headers and an Autoexe exhaust, it feels a tiny bit quicker than other NC I have driven. Other than the exhaust there isn't much you can do to get more power unless you want to turbo or supercharge it. There's a pretty healthy NC community on Facebook https://www...

Re: Media button on NC3 Bose sound system

It's not for USB or SD card. You need a cable like this; https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/mazda/accessories/auction-1515623591.htm?rsqid=4e3e1cabd4a44819a8f2ad249067ccd2 , it plugs in to the back of the Bose headunit then you can use it like an auxiliary input and plug in your ...

I did quite a bit of browsing on miata.net and came across the rear mount turbo, looks like a really good system. I would be a bit concerned about driving it on wet roads with the air filter sitting under the rear of the car. I have decided to stick with the NA mx5 for now, something about the NC ju...

I just called the importer and they list the weight of the 15x7 N719 as 9.5 kg. Honestly I wouldn't say this is too heavy for an MX5 but I'm not a wheel expert and my car is just a daily driver. I might order some on Monday or Tuesday next week, if you like I can weigh one of the wheels before putti...

I'm wondering if 2low2c is thinking of NA/NB hard tops. I have been looking at getting an NC on and off for 6 months or so. I've never seen an NC with a hard top and I've never seen any hard tops for sale in NZ. A lot of people in the states and UK end up paying $2500-$3000 (usd) to get them new fro...

Any turbo or supercharged NC in NZ

Just wondering if anyone here has turbo or supercharged a NC MX5? There's a fair bit of info out there and plenty of kits available out of the USA but I'm unsure if those would have issues on a RHD car and would also need to find someone to tune it. Most kits seem to come with a base tune (at extra ...

Stolen MX5

Hey guys, please keep an eye out for my white NA MX5, it was stolen last night from outside my house in Mt Eden in Auckland. White with black wheels and black hardtop. Rego is HZD823, if you see it then please call the cops, or me (021505362).

This is the car;

I just did a play day at Hampton Downs on Sunday, the service they provide is excellent.

From the video I took at Hamptons I did about a 1.31, standard 1.8 with Racing Beat springs and Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres.

How tall are you? I'm about 6'1 and have one of these seats, headroom is fine but I did have to get a dished steering wheel to make room for my knees.

I don't know what that orange thing with massive trumpets is, but the engine's in the wrong place and I want one. Seriously? That's a McLaren Canam car! Very cool machines. We had one in the McLaren showroom a few weeks ago when it opened. Here's a page about them; http://www.bruce-mclaren.com/info...
